FINALLY A LEGIT IMAGE! After several A.I. Masters of the Universe: Origins "Cartoon Collection" (Filmation) KING RANDOR figures being passed around the community, this one looks legit (especially after comparing the minicomic in the back to the already officially revealed Queen Marlena figure.)
Early in-hand like Dragstor? Hopefully a full image of this will be available soon.
Thanks to Adam at Battle Ram Blog for finding it!
We have the Power!
I'd be down for a GBW figure. I'm always down to get more unrealized Classics figures. Bring on Bandwidth!
@chrisa Agreed! Though I would find it difficult to envisage them transitioning from a 'what would have been a MOTUC design' to an Origins mould. No, at this stage I would prefer to switch to the Masterverse style.
@andy_wan_kenobi it's "Toyhabits" for some reason the last board update doesn't show links in a different color or underlined. @admin

I guess we haven’t enough figures with skull heads lol He’s not bad though. Since I skipped the Skeletor-Shredder…
He’s got Blast-Attack legs, which I guess is how Alex designed him!
See attached Blast-Attack vintage for comparison, pics from motuvintagevariants.com and Toyhabits.com):

I know, and that's legitimately more exciting for me than the wizard itself! One of the absolute best (and egregiously under appreciated) characters in this franchise. I want him more than any other outstanding vintage (including Two Bad). Hell, I've wanted him more than any of the other vintages they've released over the last two years lol.
He makes me laugh

I can tell by your avatar! 😃
I never had a Blast-Attack in any toy line so far, so I’m with ya!
The Wizard looks more finished than a mere test shot, compared to what that Skele-Shredder looked like… we may see him sooner than later!
I find the timing of Mattel's release of Randor and Marlena interesting, given that they will appear in the forthcoming motion picture due to be shown in cinemas next year. Are they trying to familiarise the more casual collector with them? In the hope that they will be more inclined to buy two of each? Hmmm...

Then where's Goat Man? He needs significantly more "familiarizing" for casuals.

You've been missing out. I think you'll really enjoy him, especially if they keep the feature. You can work him into displays in really silly ways, like having his left side knocking on Grayskull 's door to distract He-Man while his right side tries to climb through a window.
And even if they don't keep it, the steampunk robot aesthetic is really appealing. Try pairing him with Trap Jaw, their designs work well together.
@evilwarrior Since we're talking about Goat Man, yes, they should start with the buried Revelation figure right away! This missed opportunity still pisses me off, and I'm not going to keep quiet about it!
My problem with Blast-Attak is how his gimmick is almost always misused. He's a suicide bomber not a two for one warrior.

@evilwarrior Blast-Attak was always so cool. I have no idea why he always gets the shaft.

He was an end of the line character that was clearly meant to be a suicide bomber.
So strike one is he's just part of the group of characters that "no one cares about" and two is the suicide bomber thing isn't really appropriate for children.

I was gonna bite my tongue, I try to not even interact with this kinda shit because these kind of posts give me a headache, but seeing this shit pushed twice, I'm gonna rant:
The problem isn't inherently the character, it's cringey edgelords pushing a grimdark interpretation that's the problem. Yeah, explosive power is involved, but even in settings where they call him a "time bomb", it only ever blasts him in two pieces to knock down a wall or to surprise attack enemies that have him surrounded and he just snaps himself back together. The style guide refers to it as a blast apart power to attack two enemies at once, not as someone that blows himself to smithereens. And that's how he's shown to be used the vintage media. The only time he's EVER been depicted as a guy that completely blows up was Rev (and I hate how they did him dirty with interpreting his power as something that literally killed him).
You're here simultaneously saying you have a problem with Blast-Attak being utilized in the "appropriate for kids" manner that virtually all the official sources go with because it doesn't match your head canon of "actual suicide bomber" and then saying that because of your head canon, he's actually NOT appropriate for kids and deserves to be overlooked and left out. Because you want him to be a "suicide bomber" and literally kill himself whenever he shows up.
You and people that think like you are the problem, not the character himself, because you could just take him at face value as they present him and not look deeper than a robot that blasts in half.

I never said I had a problem with the character and I never said I didn't want him around. I just said he's clearly intended by his designers to be a "suicide bomber" from his initial concept to his final toy that concept was obviously changed and made a little more palatable for parents who were gonna buy these toys for their kids. I love the idea of a robot that's mass produced solely for the purpose of blowing himself up to take out his enemies. I just acknowledged that that kind of thing isn't really appropriate for children.

@smitty-81 The thing is though that since the 80's, kids have not been the ones buying MOTU figures, so whether he's appropriate for them or not is rendered irrelevant by this fact, so that automatically removes that debatable obstacle. As for being part of that late wave of vintage that "nobody cares about", that's not entirely accurate either seeing how a character as equally obscure originally like Scare Glow has become massively popular in subsequent decades, even though he's essentially an unimaginative Skeletor variant in all but name. Meanwhile, BA has a cool, non-generic look, and 100% unique tooling, yet it seems in every MOTU line that he's either forgotten about, or occasionally half-heartedly released very late, only because Mattel sometimes promises to make every vintage character. He kind of fascinates me - he looks like how I imagine the NA villains would have looked had they been made using the vintage beefy buck and scale.
@durendal Mattel still sells these as toys so they have to stay age appropriate, otherwise they end up in the electronics department. Also it but quotation marks for a reason.
