@sketchyskeletor After giving it some more thought, I've come to the conclusion that it is most likely due to the sheer number of movie products that are about to be released, which explains the large quantity of 200X figures that were showcased at the previous SDCC. It's important to note that a number of these characters haven't yet been made available for pre-order.

Yup, that was my guess too.
I'm looking the image of the Mark Taylor Sketchbook series He-Man and comparing it to the actual sketch it's based off of,
I think it's hard to tell in the sketch but I'm pretty sure the hair is blond like the final design but the figure looks to have brown or black hair.

SB He-Man is based off an earlier sketch, possibly the very first sketch that the "Vykron trio" were based off of. Apparently they changed the hair color to make him look lees like Conan.

Sting-or just arrived and I really like his look but trying to get the claw over the generic hand and the shield onto the other arm wasn't fun!
Also they really need to sort out his backstory definitively. SPOILERS IN THE NEXT PARAGRAPH...
Re. Mini comic. He's basically a faction leader and has been forever, somehow unknown until now, and yet he also works for Hordak as a Horde assassin while having Stinkor (now called Stinggar for some reason) as a right hand man underneath Eternia. Er, what? The Mattel description then says he's a threat to Etheria!
God only knows Mattel has winged backstories from the beginning but there's no excuse in the modern day. And the mini comic's right hand man that I mentioned was just bizarre in context. You've even got a genuine lol moment with what's probably an autocorrect goof on the final page. I'm not surprised they're cancelling the mini comics, they've been getting worse almost each time.
Anyway, Sting-or needs defining if he's to become a Horde mainstay or something else. Right now he makes little sense!
@sketchyskeletor I’m ok with him being a sub-faction leader with his own plans of conquest, while in the service of the Horde, jumping back & forth from E. to E., but that right-hand man is probably a mistake and was supposed to be his unreleased buddy from the same species…
Even I was taken aback by this goof, BUT as I’ve said before, I will still gladly take the comics, it’s not like they will give us something else instead or lower the price. I still love some of them. Never voluntarily ask them to give us less lol. At least another freelance artist got a job, even though he got a crappy briefing by hand written fax and never got to talk to the writer directly, while the graphic designer doesn’t speak one word of English haha
Probably the best we’ll get in the corporate world 🫠
@sketchyskeletor I think the final page was intentional, as in the last panel there is indeed an anecdote being told… definitely awkward, extremely forced play on words

I hate the idea that so many MOTU characters are leaders of former leaders, at least in the its been done in Origins.
I really don't like it with the Horde. I feel like the Horde should be made of survivors of races that Hordak has slaughtered or people that joined the Horde after their world was subjugated by Hordak.

I know but it does accentuate how bad the comics are that you can't strictly tell! I'd guess at a spelling error that gave them the idea but, well, see Stinggar. Or rather, don't lol.
I honestly won't miss them, they're so low effort I either Google the lore or make up my own! Give me a bio card to read because apparently my imagination is better than the writers' recently 😳
@cosmic I agree man. I'd still rather be getting shitty mini comics with lousy story telling than nothing, haha. At worst at least we can still admire these characters in action! It's not like they'll be featured in any other media.
Yup, that’s the thing– this “classic” version of the characters, there’s no media of them, even when we had Revelation and the CGI toon– for vintage style Origins, we had only the comics, to see them in action.
Even more so today, these are the only stories we have.
And again, they stick to the old figure designs, because Origins. Love to see more drawings of classic MOTU characters and their new buddies.

Same. Honestly if I were to write a MOTU series, Skeletor would be Hordak's former second-in-command rather than apprentice and both would be about equal in age mentality and Keldor would become Skeletor a different way (Snake Men captured and tortured him? He got the Havoc Staff and it was the result of it corrupting him itself?) then one day the two fight and when Skel loses he's like f**k y'all I'm out! Back to Eternia!
Think this would be an interesting new spin on their dynamic
@smitty-81 k looked it up a bit more and yeah that makes sense.
I know MC is selling Masterverse figures of them but now I want Origins scaled figures of Tankhead and legally distinct not-Boba Fett
So about Marlena. I'm sure people are wondering if they're still gonna do CC She-Ra figures based on her having a 2024 CC cardback and I'm sure they will
But going forward I'm betting if it's a character with accessory based off a Filmation He-Man episode, 2024 Grayskull cardback. 2025 Hordak Cardbak, character with accessory based off Filmation She-Ra episode.
I'm sure the only reason every CC figure had a Hordak Cardbak this year was because it was an anniversary thing, but now that it's over and they're bringing 200x into the CC mix, they're gonna start using the cardbacks to distinguish the Filmation halves going forward if y'all get what I'm saying.
@sketchyskeletor Completely agree, it took a good few minutes to go from “wait, what” to a weak smile. Easily my least liked mini-comic (no shaky redemptions for the other issues!)

Please, eff the bio cards lol.
(Respectfully 😉) They can stick those where the Sun-Man don’t shine. Weak
It’s not the same. You’re like the only person who wants *less* for their money. I don’t get it. Ha
You get a bonus in your toy each time but you’re like, “Nah, save it, and make more profit please, dear corporation!”
Comics (in general) are the only thing I love more than action figures.
Comics are magic, even shitty ones ❤️

Yeah, I'll agree with that 110%.
@slycooperastroboy51 Absolutely agree, I write something similar in the news comment section.
Exclusives can have more specific Cardbacks, while the retail lines need to have all the same ones, probably for cost reason, or whatever.
Remember we had Sun-Men with snake cards, Spikor and Slamurai with snake cards… and Horde characters had only a sticker and never their own card. But all this is only valid for the retail waves.
At Creations, we’ve had classic red rocks on some, we had Vultak in the Hordak CC card, and we had Powers of Grayskull boxes… all is possible for Retail exclusives, too.
I’m almost positive we’ll get more PoP CC, one way or another.
@cosmic We're getting less for our money whatever, it's already happened! For me I won't miss something I didn't care about. And I read comics! But good ones lol, that don't require a magnifying glass and brain gymnastics.
@cosmic Who do you expect/personally want for more POP CC figures?
I've already made it very clear that I want an Entrapta but also would love a Glimmer and Scorpia. I mean I've watched a good amount of Filmation She-Ra but I'm more attached to the 2018 version but seeing as we're not getting figures of those versions of the characters for the forseeable future (Mattel has collaberated with Nickelodeon, WB and Hasbro on recent figures, surely they can work something out with Universal/Dreamworks, that would be kickass) I'm satisfied with really having figures of any version of them.
Not getting a Bow until we get any confirmation of a Glimmer so I can expect a Filmation Super Best Friend Squad in my collection.

That's a bad idea...
Get Bow now or you may end up paying more for him.

@slycooperastroboy51 I get that about at least having the classic version, if you can’t have the 2018 designs as figures!
I think I’d like a Glimmer, Adora and probably Angella… though they are maybe not the most exciting figures (except Angella with cool wings!).
I’d love an Entrapta but only with vac metal. That vintage figure looks so cool, I’ve sometimes been tempted… Udo have the MOTU Classics version, love how they interpreted her with the skirt, boots etc. I’d love that, but with Vac Metal, and hopefully hair that is not too heavy.
I’d also take a Scorpia. Sea Hawk.
Funny enough, I’m not as big of a fan of the Filmation He-Man Cartoon, for MOTU, I prefer toy designs. But I’m sure there are some cool figures possible there, if characters we never had or only in Classics. Always liked Strong-Arm and Shokoti! I do have the Classics of them, but I’d get them again!
@sketchyskeletor I’ll leave you alone, we have to agree to disagree,
I did just want to add that there’s still a lot of value there, even tho you don’t enjoy it, Mattel is spending ressources on it, compared to just a bio that a brand manager writes in his lunch break.
Someone has to draw every panel by hand, drawing, drawing,… plus other people involved.
It’s a shame the result is lacking…
They draw it too detailed, and then shrink it! That’s why we need a magnifying glass. Maybe they worry it’ll look For Children otherwise.
But, there’s no such thing as a low effort comic. Any visual storytelling like this is… backbreaking work. Imagine doing this yourself 😬
Sorry, coming from the art field, I’ll go to war for them lol.
Don’t ruin this for us who like them lol.
But I’ll drop it now, I get it.
