Now that Multi-Bot is out of the way, I hope we can take a bit of a break from Horde again for a little while.

Much as I like them we've gotten basically nothing but good guys and Horde all year so I'm looking forward to Team Skeletor getting a bit of dedicated focus and getting some new faces.

Not gonna insist on beating the Two-Bad drum again or insist that it be vintage necessarily (though I'd be lying if I said Blast-Attak wasn't my #1 wish for the next release), i'd be happy with some Skelcons or Gygor or Goat Man coming next year. Or if I dare wish for some really deep "never gonna happen" cuts, Mindbeast and Shezar would be dreams come true

I'd toss some Sketchbook Series options in too but at the moment I'm kinda tempted to write SBS off as nothing but variants forever until I get proven wrong

There's still Dragstor and I think he's the last "true vintage" hordsmen, excluding PoP.

As I understand it Dragstor is supposed to be released this year (possibly the November item) then Multi-Bot while up for pre-order now, is actually getting released in January. And I do believe that's all the vintage Horde from the MOTU line. There's still Entrapta and Scorpia who'd most likely get cartoon collection releases assuming we still get some Filmation.

That's what I just said. Except isn't the November release "Members Only" meaning its the next POG figure, most likely Eldor.

I definitely am saturated with Horde right now, and I am still saying: I don’t like it when Mattel has these themes and does *one similar figure after another*, only from one faction. I got massively burned out from the Snakes, and now it was like Hordak one month, then Despara (female Hordak) right after.

I get it it’s good for marketing to have a theme but I think having more variety and surprises is so much better for fans.

And I don’t think that moving through Horde quickly doesn’t mean we get to stuff like NA etc more quickly. It’s still the same amount of vintage figures / auxiliary characters to get through, it’s just a different order.

Give us some variety Mattel!

Hopefully next year on MC, we’ll have some Filmation stragglers, alongside VC Evil AND Heroic  Warriors, a vehicle, new creations, 200X specials, more Masterverse, etc etc

She-Ra is still blowing her 40th candle this year, hence the reason why the horde was so prevalent.

@onlyoneskeletor I am losing hope that Mattel will celebrate She-Ra's 40th with more cartoon collection figures. Time is running out.

@samuel I don't know; to me, anything is still possible. For instance, say that, in terms of strategy, Mattel opted to increase the number of characters from the 200X universe before returning to more Filmation characters. This would tempt fans of both MotU cartoons equally. From my personal standpoint a collector would be more inclined to start collecting once a decent amount of references were available on the market. Instead of blindly picking up whatever the manufacturer sporadically offers. I remember Bandai doing the same thing with their Saint Cloth Myth EX line back in 2011, while continuing to produce the original line for a long time.

@onlyoneskeletor Yes yes I know, but for example we didn’t get a single Great Rebellion character on Creations.

Ofc that She-Ra + horsey set is one of the coolest releases since Creations period.

I wouldn’t lose hope. Like others have stated before, I can definitely imagine them releasing more Filmation on Creations next year, alongside more Vintage Collection, Masterverse etc

After all, the Powers of Grayskull Are Running out of figures! Perhaps Club Grayskull will become (metaphorically) Club Filmation next year!

Hope Dies Last! 🫠 But seriously, even as a not Die-Hard CC fan, I think we’ll see more.

As some of you may know, the official promotional shots for Sting-Or have just been completed, and the pre-order date has been set. Of course, two notable features of this character are the big claw and the tail. The aesthetic of the latter made me wonder how it could be reused in the near future. On closer inspection, I would say that the various parts forming the deadly appendage could very well (after gaining in volume) form the basis of an Origins Battle Bones figure.

@smitty-81 As diverse as Hordak is to Despara? Or Sting-Or to Scorpia? 🙃

My point is, even more diverse on Creations e.g. would be to have some Evil Warriors in-between, for instance. Stonedar. etc

Seriously done with this “the same faction all year long” stuff

I would be so into a Club Filmation so hard! Drain my bank account Club Filmation. It's yours!

OK those two examples, but that's it. Also do you want to complete and collection or have diversity?

I absolutely don’t “buy” it, it just comes out in a different order, but you still have to release the same number of figures in both cases?

Also, with these themed years, I’d argue they’re adding more filler characters in the respective Snake or Horde year. So it actually takes longer?

I don’t get why some want to finish it as quickly as possible. The act of collecting is what’s fun. I guess I understand the anxiety of not completing.

But I already have a big, fun Origins collection thus far, (plus many Classics and MV), I’m in it to enjoy the ride, and as such it makes it less enjoyable if everything is Horde, Horde, Horde for a whole year.

People don't want to deal with Mattel any longer, it's no more complicated than that. They're too far in so they just wanna complete the collection and walk away. Equally, so many already stopped caring and walked away and/or sold off their collections. When that's SO visible, well...

Anecdotally I know four people now who threw the towel in and you can't blame them one bit. Endless fucking store exclusives, CG membership, Cretins, shortpacked figures... you literally have to be an addict to carry on to completion. And nobody thinks that's healthy.

There's side aspects too, like Transformers, GI Joe, Marvel Legends... lol. But folks just wanna be done with the Mattel shitshow. Look at the threads on Cretins, Instagram or anywhere else, it's always the same comments about FINALLY closing out the line. Pages of them every time.

That could have gotten us Wrap Trap.

But I think I'm with you keep it going for as long as possible.

@sketchyskeletor Ivsimply do not understand the antagonism against Mattel. They are a business trying to make as much money as possible that's what businesses do. I get the antagonism and the frustration with Walmart and Target exclusives, but that's not Mattel's fault.

@sketchyskeletor I don’t think the two are the same:

1. Wanting that the Vintage characters are finished

2. Wanting to be done with Mattel / MOTU

You may be projecting your own feelings here 😉

I get the demand for finishing the remaining vintage characters.

But that doesn’t mean they want to stop collecting MOTU then. Or even Origins. Collectors follow multiple lines (you yourself mention others).

People who followed Classics eventually gotten some Masterverse, or Origins (or Mondo, different story).

And there are so many people complaining about McFarlane and Hasbro online. The toy collectors that are always online are a peculiar bunch, and the companies’ (retail) strategies are similar.

Mattel is making new MOTU figures. I like that. I will buy the ones I like. I think plenty others feel that way. But not all.

@cosmic i don't even know why I bother sometimes. The dude has a serious mad-on for Mattel, and the fact that he refuses to call Mattel Creations by its actual names, says a lot about him.

I just had a random thought. What if Vintage Collection Two-Bad is next year's amazon exclusive? Characters with two heads and extra parts seems to be their jam so maybe a set like the one we got at SDCC.

Oh, I can feel the tension in the air... Gentlemen, please try to keep this space friendly. Besides, we may receive some exciting news from Mattel sooner than we think, such as the Masters of the Universe autumn catalogue, which should plunge us back into a more recreational atmosphere. 😉

Honestly, check out the comments online. You'll see exactly what I mean. There's vitriol being aimed directly at Mattel because folks want to finish out MOTU as they keep putting out crossovers AND never finish sublines.

Really? They did all the vintage Snakemen and a few bonus characters, and the Evil Horde is close, also with a few extra members. Same for the Rulers of the Sun.
