Gotta admit though, it’ll sting when they start showing the gorgeous artwork bit by bit, post regular updates about it… I won’t lie it will sting a bit each time.

I'm a diehard too (I own two of each retail playset) but I've drawn the line at the crowdfunds because Mattel are taking the absolute piss. Like you I'd have 'found the space' but there's simply no justification for what they're charging.
30 people needed to fund the Snake Lair now.
It's so weird that it needs to hit the 6000 before they open up a payment plan (according to their own email). So in the eyes of people who can't do it without a plan, 6000 rubes are needed to subsidise them buying in at all. That's just bad business for everybody and probably yet another reason it still hasn't funded.

Meaning it doesn't have all the early backers who would have encouraged other backers. It's so dumb. Mattel, even with the state of this crowdfund, could have sold so many more units.
Mind you, just making it a 200 bucks worth exclusive set and MTO would have made them even more, but...

We will never see this figure otherwise, and we all know it's baked into that $300 price tag. It would go a long way to keep customers not pissed off at the company. Come on Mattel, throw in Priest Pythonis!!
@karot-top Well if they could give us something as lame as He-Skeletor on Mattel Creations that nobody asked for, there's no reason they can't give us High Priest Pythonus or Keclar, who actually have some demand.

They actually suggested during a Q&A just recently him and Keclar could be released down the line, which was an interesting move considering they were tryna garner crowdfund support at that very moment!
Pythonus and Keclar should become a Powers of Grayskull era 2-pack for Club Grayskull members on Mattel Creations. It gives Mattel a route to recoup tooling and development costs while maintaining the exclusivity of the set. I would prefer a made to order approach. I don’t believe anyone ever thought Snake Lair had a chance of getting to 8000 units. But at least with the 2-pack those of us that have supported this line from the beginning and still obtain these two awesome additions.
You know they will release the High Priest, because hes a snakeman, and mattel has a snakeman boner.
The Keclar on the other hand, seems mattel only has a boner for one lame old guy, and thats MAA. So probably will never get him.

@depp76 Some of these exclusives become very available later on. Remember Keldor / Kronos? I’ve approved the delays also at least 3 or 4 times… hoping for the best…
But if they cancel me I’ll just wait and see.
Masterverse Blade is still expensive on eBay, but actually dropped in price recently. I wouldn’t panic too much…

Just 10 rubes backers needed for the Snake Lair to fund. That'll open up the payment plan and probably see quite a bit more movement. If it doesn't Mattel really need to make Slither and Pythonus free to everybody because this thing has been a disaster all told.

Exact same scenario with me! It would be nice if this ends up like the Rise of Evil two pack and it's everywhere. I hope you guys are right, and we'll get Priest Pythonis down the road if Mattel doesn't play nice and just include it with the lair. Only 5 more backers needed at the time of this post!
The Snake Lair finally funded, though even now it's only at 6005.
Edit - I remembered they said the payment plan would kick in on funding so I wondered how they'd handle it. Once you're signed in you only have your standard card option for this (not actually buying) international buyer, nothing else. Classic Cretins. Can't even help out the people in desperate need of a payment plan with 6 days to go.

On principle I wouldn't pay them for that set if I was rich, you're telling them it's OK to treat you like shite and it'll only get worse. But that's not the only thing, it affects everybody going forward, whether they laughed in the face of it or not.

Obviously, this is just my personal opinion. Maybe you're right and I'll contribute to making things worse; then again, maybe I won't. In my opinion, the marketing strategies used are such that, whatever we do at this point, I'm no longer sure of anything — not even whether voting with our wallets will have the impact we thought it would, if you know what I mean! Setting all these considerations aside, this is a rare opportunity for me to take Motu in a different direction, away from the usual landscape of a Grayskull castle. To tell new stories and explore new territory.

Agreed, and you do what's right for you, that's all anybody can, it's just I personally refuse to be part of such an egregious scheme. It's been a greedy disaster from day one.
At this end I'd love a Crystal Castle, but as a likely crowdfund, we've collectively just shown them they can charge almost triple. For no good reason.
