Ugh. Why do I get the feeling the 200X 1/12 line is going to run for 4 figures and that's it? I hope I'm wrong, but all this doom and gloom talk about Funko isn't helping.
WANTED IN MASTERVERSE:
'87 Movie Man-At-Arms, '87 Movie Skeletor Trooper, '87 Movie Teela, New Eternia Masks of Power Demons, New Eternia Queen Marlena (White Space Outfit).
WANTED IN MONDO 200X 1/12 SCALE:
Disco Skeletor, King Miro, Count Marzo, Kex Queen, Ambrosia Webstor, King Grayskull and many, many more.
@abaddon Its a lot of noise, don't bother getting caught up in it. I had a big write-up about this topic I was going to post on the weekend, but I ended up not going ahead with it. Every time I try to bring some nuance to this topic it seems like no one actually reads what I've written and then two posts later someone starts talking about how Mondo is a failed business venture despite the fact that they have zero evidence and they've been operating since 2001. On top of that they've been rapidly expanding their product lines and offerings. I'll try and keep some of the succinct points I had written up before below. Overall, I'm not too worried about Mondo as it stands.
- Funko would not allow Mondo to expand their product lines if they weren't proving to be successful and making money. 1/6th Spider-Man, Thundercats and TMNT wouldn't be happening if the business was headed underwater. Likewise they wouldn't be producing niche interest products like RGB 1/12th figures or the Mondo Squads if things weren't looking good. Funko would have Mondo focused on their most popular, core offerings
- If Mondo does get cutbacks due to the ongoing Funko situation MOTU will be one of the last things to be affected. Mondo's posters, vinyl records and their less popular lines will be slashed first. MOTU and X-Men always sell out and are heavily supported products (even during these tougher economic times the Beast Man variant still fully sold out as did the 4th version of Rogue from X-Men)
- Despite the rhetoric of some users on this site the MOTU line is very well supported. If it wasn't there is no chance that they would be producing mounts and vehicles in this scale (even with parts reuse). Mattel has also stated that mounts and vehicles only happen when lines are well supported. Likewise, figures like Beast Man, Man-E-Faces and Buzz Off that require tons of extra work and unique tooling that have almost no reuse value wouldn't be getting made either. Peter and Hector have flat out stated multiple times that the reason why MOTU has gotten all these products is because of how well supported the line is by MOTU fans
- There are many MOTU fans that have the budget to purchase higher end collectibles. Look at the Tweeterhead statutes. They're usually pushing to nearly $1000 these days and they've been selling out. Even the Skeletor bust that was over $1000 and had 1000 units produced fully sold out
- Funko stock had its highest peak in 2018 at nearly $30 a share and then in 2020 that stock fell to $3.40. Additionally, Funko stock was looking like it was recovering after a slump towards the end of 2024/start of 2025 before the tariff announcements took place. They were sitting at about $5 a share in April 2024 and finished the year at nearly $14 a share (Source) While this doesn't mean they aren't out of the woods they've been here multiple times before and have recovered. Some of these recoveries have happened while they've owned Mondo since they acquired them in 2022. My source allows you to look at their full price history if you want to take a peak
- Finally, it has been stated that Alamo Drafthouse sold Mondo because they were unprofitable. I've scoured the internet and cannot find a single source to confirm this. So unless someone has an inside source that they can't name or there is a source that can be provided this is complete and utter hearsay. Additionally, as someone who works in the business/finance industry and who's immediate family have been doing so for decades I can confidently say that sectors of businesses aren't only sold off because they're unprofitable. My current company just sold off a whole sector of our business to another organization, despite the fact that they were profitable for us (I know this as a hard fact) simply because they wanted to reduce their risk exposure in that sector and they'd make more money on the deal through a fee-based partnership with this other org. Way less risk for us and still lots of money. Furthermore, Alamo Drafthouse also sold themselves to Sony in 2024, so even after removing the supposed Mondo "deadweight" they still ended up selling themselves anyways for an undisclosed reason
My advice is simple: If you like the 1/12th 200x line and you don't mind the pricing pick-up the figures. Supporting the line will help lead to a positive outcome. None of us know for certain what's going to happen, but there is a very high likelihood that we'll still be having these discussions a few years from now IMO.
Anyway, right now, my only aspiration is to obtain the additional information we need to evaluate the accessibility of this brand new Motu line-up. Not to mention the issues related to space, or any new geopolitical shifts that may occur in the process. It's all exhausting and headache-inducing.
Buzz buzz came yesterday. Awesome figure. Maybe top 2 or 3 they have done. Give me a Stinkor already!!!

Stinkor would rule. Share some pics dude!
@banthafett nice to hear that he came in good condition and is as great in-hand as he looked online. No shipping notice for mine yet, but I usually get my figures a few weeks after you get yours it seems. Stinkor is a must have at a large scale from Mondo. Can only imagine how great his armour would be. Personally, I hope that they don't do the stink on him though....
@onlyoneskeletor they definitely won't announce pricing before the She-Ra Swiftwind bundle is over. I'm expecting an end of Sept sale date, with a 10 day ordering window. Expecting the prices to come mid-September. Skeletor and MAA will likely be the same deal in November.
On a couple of separate notes, I'm hoping that they push 1/6th Tri-Klops into January to avoid the Christmas season, especially with four 1/12th figures hitting before year end. Still undecided on She-Ra purchase, but leaning towards not getting this release. She looks incredible though.
Finally, I'm also thinking Mondo shouldn't release "regular editions" on these 1/12th figures. Maybe for He-Man and Skeletor, but I think that these regular renditions just use up warehouse space. Its my main critique of the RGB line as well. RGB is a super niche audience so anyone who wants one will likely get the big bundle. With MOTU I feel like anyone who wants a figure is buying the deluxe edition. You can't convince me that a regular edition Skeletor that costs $20-30 less is somehow going to sell like hotcakes (referring to 1/6th in this instance).
@smokinya Whether or not I'll be able to get involved in this new line, I'm excited to see this MotU iteration making a comeback in the nicest possible way. Things are chaotic on my side these days: I'm trying to progressively rearrange my MOTUC collection with Masterverse figures and Origins vehicles and playsets, while reselling as many other franchise items as I can (SH Figuarts Dragon Ball Z, Silverhawks, Ronin Warriors, etc.) in the hope of continuing this exciting journey for a little while longer. I wish I wasn't such a dreamer — it's far more than my dedicated room can handle!
@smokinya I dunno, sometimes these $20-$30 can make a difference, depending on the base price ofc
$200 or $230 is not such a big difference I feel, once you’re already up there.
But a figure for $100 or $70, that can make it a make or break for me.
@ornclown No Swifty in the end? I understand the responsibility, including the financial and display aspects. As for Funko's current problems and how they will probably affect Mondo, I would have preferred to not be involved at all. It seems really difficult to get into one of their toylines in 2025. It's too much of a hassle.
I would absolutely love to get Swift Wind... but, She-Ra turned from $260.00 to $320.34 when I payed for her. I don't even want to think how much of an upcharge would accompany the set!! 😳
My Battle Cat and He-Man occupy an entire display shelf alone (and BC is heavy), so I'm sure Swifty would take up even more space -with wings spread- as well.
Besides, I really wanted to make The Goddess my last Mondo MOTU figure... I can recoup some of the She-Ra money by selling the 1.0 version, so hopefully, She-Ra 2.0 will be my actual final Mondo MOTU. It's just getting too ridiculous buying these things at prices that certainly do not need to be this high... it's getting harder and harder to justify Mondo's unethical pricing practices.
>>>The Power of the Good and the Way of the Magic!<<<
@cosmic I absolutely agree with this.
The difference in pricing between standard and deluxe figures used to have a much bigger impact. Now, because the 1:6 prices have jumped astronomically (and the discount remains the same), the difference is almost laughable.

I just can’t get over blind box chases on an $800+ set. You spend that much, you should get it all. But unfortunately, I’ve picked up every other release to date and will cave on this set too. Thank God my wife loves me and his a high tolerance to my collection!
I just got shipping notification on the classic beastman variant. Should be delivered on Saturday.
@onlyoneskeletor I certainly understand where you're coming from. I stopped any other collecting once I decided I was only going to stick with MOTU. Then I decided I would only be in on the Mondo and Tweeterhead stuff I instantly wrote anything else off from Mattel. I do hope that the 1/12th scale figures are produced at the lowest price possible so more people have a chance of getting in on the line without sacrificing its quality. I think Mondo realizes that this line could be a huge hit for them especially if they can land on a decent price. We'll see how it all turns out.
@cosmic I agree that a $20-30 price reduction on the cheaper figures is more meaningful than the $20-30 on the more expensive figures. My biggest worry is that by having regular edition figures you run the risk of making more than you can sell and then you take a loss on it and they end up sitting in the warehouse forever. Toyline margins are already pretty thin as it is. Usually companies only net 10-20% after the expenses are paid.
@sshook27 Peter and Hector spoke about the Lookee chase figure on the Toy Talk for Swiftwind. They said it was a last minute addition to the set and they thought it would be something fun since the She-Ra cartoon always had a hidden Lookee in the episode somewhere. They said that they don't expect or want anyone to be buying multiple bundles looking for the chase figure. I think it was a fun idea, but I'm not so sure about the execution. I can certainly understand why people would be upset about it.
@smokinya I really do hope this 1/12 200X line goes deep. If it does, I'll be kissing all the Mattel stuff goodbye.
For me, Stinkor with a mini Odiphus figure is a must have. A 'Disco Skeletor' repaint would be amazing too.
We never got King Miro in Classics, so I'd go bonkers if he was revealed in the future of this line. I know that'd be a while off though. Count Marzo with a little Old Man Marzo would probably be a safer bet, but he'd be awesome too!
Ahhh, the possiblities ...

I can’t say goodbye to Mattel’s stuff. But I’ll need an extra job to keep up with it all. I’ve managed to snag everything Mondo has put out and it just keeps getting better. Maybe with all the 200X love going around Mattel will green light a proper comic series or TV animated movie to bring the series to a better end. The episode 40 comic produced with the Best Buy exclusive dvd set just let me wanting more.
@sshook27 Haha! I've already got two jobs and an ebay store ... and when I say I'll be giving up Mattel stuff, I'm sure they'll reel me in again like they always do ... 🤣 🤣 🤣

Just think, one day we will be so old that we will be getting rides from our kids to go “toy hunting” for our 987 Skeletor variant.
I'm intrigued. I want to know about the packaging of the new 200X line.

My Evil-lyn delayed to October now. Dang it Mondo.
@skeledog Sorry to hear this. Mondo, it is imperative that Halloween marks the denouement of this figure. Any further procrastination will simply be unacceptable (lol).
@onlyoneskeletor Mondo said june was the ship date. Funkos money problems shouldnt be my problem.
