VC Beast Man ? Where did you see that ? I don't see anything about Beast Man on Toy Habits

Beast-Man

Something about Scare Glow was also rumored but of course I don't see anything about the most important one.

@cosmic @yen @sketchyskeletor @ornclown @lasastard @sci-fitsunami If you are members of Club Grayskull, you may have received a survey from Mattel Creations in the past few hours. It's the perfect opportunity to let them know how we feel about their relentless and unbearable practices, which threaten to further dissolve what little customer base they have left.

Yes, have done it (surveymonkey asks to make an account at the end, that’s not necessary for your answers to count, right?)

I’ve written a long text in the last box, since most of the other questions seem to be about making some online collection tracker, which I have zero interest in.

Tell me about it. There were some pretty boring questions in this one. However, I had a lot of fun putting their fingers into an electric plug, if you know what I mean. 😆 Here we go:

(Mattel): How do you choose which items to add to your collection?

Me: Everything starts with the glaring holes left by Motuc Classics. I'm leaning towards Origins (playsets and vehicles) and Masterverse (New Eternia/Vintage Collection).

Mattel: Is there anything else you'd like us to know about your collecting experience?

(Me): The manufacturer's inability to complete any faction is frustrating. This is particularly visible within the Masterverse line.

This is what I would've added:

Yeah, WALMART SUCKS!  They screw up their exclusives almost every single time.  They are currently screwing up the Vintage Collection. Won't stock them all in stores, they constantly cancel preorders & never restock their website.

Also certain figures sell out immediately & if you miss them you're totally screwed. Like Battle Armor Skeletor & 87 movie Blade. You need to start paying attention to which figures need to be reissued.

And you need to start communicating with your fanbase like Hasbro does. Hasbro has been reissuing hard to get Transformers like crazy. But you never reissue anything. Once it's gone it's gone for good.

I focused mostly on expressing my disappointment about Chronicles supposedly replacing Masterverse and ending the latter..,etc and also about missing characters in MV, wanting new characters, more vehicles in Origins, more PoP and NA in either line,…

I also said the things I do like, for example Fright Zone and the Collector, the exciting New Eternia Designs of the past year, the addition of all-new characters in Origins,…

I missed the opportunity to write more in the “how do you choose…” question– I just wanted them to know I am not a completist (or someone who goes by some gimmicky virtual checklist), so I answered I buy stuff that I looks cool lol

I don't really understand what you're asking here. What do people who entered late have to do with Mattel Creations handling Masterverse going forward?

I'm talking about Classics itself and how it was "successful" in spite of not being beginner-friendly because of its format

Also, I thought you were saying you wanted MOTU to be dead at retail period and not just Origins and/or MV, including there not being any modern media to give it a reason to be at retail and also excluding kids

 I was saying:

1. If Masterverse gets killed because of Chronicles, then I don't care anymore. I don't care at all if MOTU disappears completely. But that's just me. I'm a Masterverse collector so I have no use for 6" figures that won't fit into my collection. If they kill Masterverse I'm done with modern MOTU so if it totally disappears from retail, I don't have a horse in that race.

2. Instead of Masterverse being completely canceled, I would rather have them move it over to Mattel Creations so they can cater to the dedicated fans & stop worrying about an imaginary new generation of kids that don't give a rat's ass about toys anyway.

Also, I wasn't late to the Classics party, I totally skipped it because I was pissed off at how they handed 200x. So I'm one of those people who have to go back & pay the ridiculous aftermarket prices. I'm gonna have to go pay $200 for a Classics Scare Glow someday. And I want a lot from Classics so it's gonna be expensive. If they stop making Masterverse I will start picking off the Classics I want 1 by 1.  At least all the characters are available unlike the newer lines. Just can't count on Mattel to finish a line as long as regular retail is involved. The only way to do it is MattyCollector or Mattel Creations & only focus on the dedicated fanbase.

Do you want the subscription bullshit to come back too, just to fuck over those who weren't quick enough/jumped in late even further?

HELL NO!  I don't do subscriptions. I lost out on some Transformers I really wanted because I never did the Transformers Collector's Club subscriptions.  I never have the extra money to pay up front for a subscription or crowdfund.  I just want them to do what they've been doing like with the Horde Trooper & Panthor. Get Masterverse away from Walmart & sell it on Mattel Creations.

But I doubt Masterverse will continue. They seem to have made up their minds already. This stuff is planned out years in advance.

While I'm still coming to terms with the Chronicles/Masterverse debacle, I remain excited to get some of the movie figures in-hand...

However, the bolded points in your post I wholeheartedly agree with 100%

Princess of Power and New Adventures are the unwanted stepchildren of Mattel's... they want to keep them locked away in the closet and hope people forget about them. (I mean, just look at the sad excuse for a celebration that was She-Ra's 40th... sigh.)

I'm hoping to learn more about the future of Masterverse at the virtual event planned for March 19th. I mean what better occasion since, according to Mattel's recent statement, special releases are still to be expected for Masterverse this year. Otherwise, the highly anticipated summer convention (SDCC) will speak for itself. Whether or not they shed some light on the matter, what will be shown in their booth should be eloquent enough.

I can see one of two possible things happening:

1.) Mattel finishes up the few figures that have already been announced / in production and calls it quits...

or

2.) They still push out the remaining figures already in production, reassess their plan (possibly based on fan feedback), and decide to keep Masterverse going as Mattel Creations / Wal-Mart exclusive line... equaling around four figures a year...

I certainly don't want to see the movie figures outright fail (and I don't think that will happen anyway), but it would be interesting to see Mattel completely reverse course and continue Masterverse as originally planned and just leave the Chronicles as a small, self-contained set of movie figures if they do not reach the numbers Mattel is hoping for...

If Masterverse has only Vintage Line releases left this year, we would probably not hear about it at the “Revealed” Mattel Creations event… We might have to wait till SDCC, but I suspect that these theoretical Vintage releases will just show up on Walmart online out of the blue.
Though judging by VC Teela, there is a possibility they will be avail at MC…

If we have some Masterverse special Creations releases á la Moss Man, Snout Spout, Panthor etc, then of course I expect to hear (or See!) it at Revealed. I really hope they have something going on there. Last year I seem to remember it being as a bit disappointing for MOTU…?

I don’t want to be pessimistic, but I somehow don’t expect any regular MV waves for MV anymore… Chronicles will want to have that spotlight. I hope I’m wrong, ofc

@cosmic I don't expect any new MV waves either. New Eternia deserves to live in special releases at least.

@ornclown Really interesting to think about these possibilities…

Mattel has obviously invested a lot into Chronicles, even addressing some weaknesses of MV and pushing the boundaries with articulation.
They just did it… at a wrong scale heh

I find it hard to believe though, that they would just retire this line after doing the movie figs. I mean, their plan has to be to continue Chronicles hence after with classic MOTU designs…? I cannot imagine any other plan.

It would be incredible though, if they would return to MV after the movie figures, due to fan demand. I would love it but at that point, they would return to an… older engineering…

I fear the Chronicles scale is indeed shrinkflation, due to the… chaotic economics situation, and Mattel simply can’t afford to do their usual bigger-than-everyone-else scale.

Unless they raise the prices … which I suspect will happen soon enough with Chronicles anyway. Euro countries already pay over 30 Euros ☠️

Figures like this can easily be repainted in Masterverse. So even if Masterverse does end, I'll still be able to keep building my collection.

It’s a “Core” figure, so the size is small… 😞 but I find him really cool. The proportions kind of remind me of Classics, actually.

I mean, have you met Mattel? 😀 The have silently abondoned so many sub lines in Origins and Masterverse, I really don't see how it would be hard to believe that they are now retiring the entire thing. Much more money to be made by starting over - the exctiement over the "new thing", and the fomo of missing the jumpinging off point to a new collection.  And the sad thing is, the are probably right too - in the short term.

@lasastard Mattel has every intention of finishing the New Etheria line they just started. They would never leave collectors in the lurch.

@he-dad Do we have some kind of binding definition of what NE should entail? Seems like they could stop at any time and call if "finished".

Which is not to say that I am not happy for any additional figure they make, don't get me wrong.

I just meant I can buy a cheap Masterverse Skeletor & easily repaint it to match this core figure.
And the head of the Core figures might fit on a Masterverse body.

Is Mattel gonna do Scare Glow like this from now on? Black body with the bones painted on like Revelation?

I should be able to put this head & armor on the Revelation body.

As I posted in other sections of the forum and judging by what I see here (Scarglow), there seems to be some encouraging news regarding our concerns about the MV line. Personally, I don't care about the cohesive aspect of the labeling. I'm a collector who interacts with his figures and throws the packaging away. Just keep the scale and character selection as they were when Masterverse was winding down, and I'll definitely be happy!

What encouraging news exactly?

I'm not even bothering with other sections of the forum. Seeing everybody raving about Chronicles while shitting on Masterverse is too depressing. I see enough of that in the Youtube comments. I keep seeing the same comments "Masterverse is too big" & "I'm glad they're ending Masterverse". It almost feels personal. Like repeatedly getting kicked in the nuts. This whole thing is really bumming me out. I don't want this damn movie. I want everything to stay how it was. So any "encouraging news" is most appreciated.

@sci-fitsunami I don't follow other forums. I entered MOTU through Masterverse (and Netflix animated series). I don't reject Chronicles, they seem great, but I find sad that Mattel cancel MV which would be a great "#classic" line for newcomers like me (I only collected Horsemen series in early 2000s)

Bashing MV seems so stupid... 🤪

@sci-fitsunami When you look at the front news page, there’s a new Chronicles Scare Glow, which seems not from the movie, and he’s a bit TALLER than the MV Revelation Scare Glow! (But pretty much in scale with MV).

Really surprising, after all the hoopla and anguish they caused.

You can read more in those comments and the Chronicles thread, but it’s possible Chronicles has two scales (only movie figures are smaller).

Don’t get bummed out by some YouTubers and their comments… just stay here 😉

Does anyone have tips or tricks to getting Masterverse Mantenna’s eyes out without scratching or damaging the figure?

I know the faceplate comes off, but those eyeballs are still in there deep!
