It might not change corporate policy, but it may get them to continue on Creations, for example.
But we need to let them know, that we actually care. And we need to bring our thoughts to them.
This is something that Scott Neitlich would always throw around... because he was convinced "MOTU will not sell at retail." Thus, Mattycollector was born to sell 'Premium Masters of the Universe action figures' through an online model.
I certainly wouldn't mind Masterverse becoming an online exclusive - if it becomes the only option. Keeping in mind the prices will most likely go up...
In some respects, this could work to many fans advantage. More deep cut choices, fan polls, possibly a subscription model, etc.
It certainly dredges up a lot of MOTUC memories... but, I have more good memories of those days than bad, so I wouldn't mind it.

However I do hurt hearing all this, being quite invested in MV, AND having a lot of Classics. Where will I put these Chronicles?
FUCK CHRONICLES! Don't buy it. Don't support it. Tell Mattel that you collect the 7" Masterverse line & you are not interested in this 6" GI Joe Classified shit. Let Chronicles fail & die out just like the Netflix CGI line, Revelation & Revolution did.
Mattel is just copying GREEDY-ASS Hasbro, the last thing we want or need. Why make 7" figures for $24.99 when the dumbass collectors will pay $24.99 for a 6" figure? Hell, they're even charging that price for a lot of the latest 5" Origins figures.
I'm really starting to hate Mattel as much as I already hate Hasbro.
Looking at my shelves/display cases, I see:
- Vintage Motu (many, not all)
- MOTUC (a few)
- Club Grayskull (a few)
- Super7 Neo Vintage (almost all)
- Origins (almost all)
- Cartoon Collection (wave 1 + a few extras)
- Masterverse New Eternia (most)
- Masterverse New Etheria (a couple)
I honestly don't know if I even have it in me to really start yet another line. I really don't. I am annoyed by the very obvious fact that Mattel doesn't understand or doesn't care about "collectors". Else I cannot explain this f'ing ADHD they seem to be having with this franchise.
🙄
I am kind of glad they seem to somehow get Origins over the finish line after all, even tho I *hate*Creations and that tacked on Fomo machine they created with their Club Grayskull subscription for no reason at all. But Masterverse is still missing a ton of "must-have" characters that there is imho no way that they could do this on Creations in any reasonable amount of time (Origins has already taken *way* too long to complete the vintage roster).

This. If you want Masterverse or something truly adjacent you really do need to reject Chronicles from what we're hearing. Anything else is showing Mattel they made the right decision and that'll be their attitude forever.
And let's be honest here, Chronicles is gonna struggle hard anyway. Probably the only movie figures that ever moved the needle in recent decades were super kid-popular Jurassic Park and Transformers. MOTU doesn't have that cache with being essentially dormant so long. I seriously doubt there's many left who would trust Mattel with non-movie characters. Origins is the only line with an actual commitment to finish!
I saw this earlier
With this news, any chance Mattel lets Super7 start making Classics/Ultimates again?
They are letting Mondo make the 200X figures…

Yeah no way. They will want to push Chronicles now instead, and don’t want competition for it.
The Mondo stuff is a whole different market and does not compete.
Unless Super 7 charges over $100, too.
They also seem to have some hang ups about Classics. It’s much more likely they continue some slow drip version of MV.

I'll take it! It's better than nothing. I really want Rio-Blast. But if Rio-Blast isn't shown at SDCC this year there won't be much hope.
I NEED Rio-Blast, Extendar, Stonedar, Rokkon, and all the Snakemen in my collection. If Mattel doesn't make them, I will have to somehow combine Classics with Masterverse & make my own half-assed customs.

Don't give me hope...
I'm really bothered by how some characters just never seem to be available. Lady Slither, Vypor, Skeleteen, and so on and so forth. This is mostly true for their adult collector lines, like Motuc and Masterverse. Why do I keep chasing things that are never going to happen? I'm curious...

We absolutely need to LET THEM KNOW though. We have to send them messages, post in the Creations forum etc
(Perhaps @admin and his partners could help us organize?)

I agree it’s much better than the line dying.
But when he said MOTU can’t survive at retail, the question is, what does “MOTU at retail” mean exactly? Are we talking about one line surviving for years, or succeeding that *some* MOTU is always available at retail?
@smitty.81 made an interesting comparison with Transformers. That even there, Hasbro keeps pushing the same characters for years. Then finally, they completed the Seekers (plz correct me).
MOTU is not a line that is basically merchandise from Star Wars and Marvel movies. It’s tougher for MOTU.
I believe they are still investing to make the brand bigger. I *guess* pushing new lines over and over, must make some sense to them.
We do have to consider that hard core collectors are not able to sustain a line. Are we are actually the minority of buyers…? Do all these reboots… *actually make sense* 😳 To get all the casuals??
(Have I mentioned we need to let them know we love Masterverse?)

It's the complete mismanagement that kills all trust every time. Like going right back to Origins. Mattel thinks so fucking short term that fans simply aren't to blame for walking away.
Taking Origins as an example. Remember when wave 2 couldn't be got in America? You know, the wave filled with standouts like Trapjaw and Scareglow? Instantly you had yet another large problem after a lot of people could only find He-Man and Skeletor. God knows how many people quit even then because it's not like other lines aren't begging four our cash.
There were countless other problems like the Naked Stratos wave and deluxes over and underproduction mentalism. Then the silly bastards went all-in on a MOTU KO line and enough Snakes for an Indiana Jones scene. The Horde? You'll be needing Amazon, Cretins and fuck knows who else, and dear love you if you aren't part of an online support network to know when this stuff hits. Even Hasbro aren't this bad!
There's no point in going into it, but Masterverse was actually handled worse! MOTU could EASILY have been a billion dollar property again but Mattel refuses to be anything close to normal with this brand.
All that said, we know they listen if they think it'll suit them. From actually telling us Origins would be completed to the Snake Lair. So I'm all for a coordinated campaign. But a lot of fans are gonna have to reject Chronicles for that to stand a chance. Why would Mattel listen if you're still being a good little lamb?
@mighty-thanos petition should be our first move, we have nothing to lose
Has it been confirmed that Masterverse is being phased out by the end if 2026 or is it just speculation? How reliable is that 1 article? I get the feeling it's probably true but until Mattel officially announces it, take it with a grain of salt. Right?
Mcfarlane jacked up the prices on his 7" to $27.99. Mattel knows Masterverse isn't selling well at the current prices so jacking up the prices probably won't work. So the next best thing is to keep the prices where they are & make everything smaller. Shrinkflation.
@sci-fitsunami it's probably true, but they cannot say anything for 2027 yet, who knows, maybe Masterverse will survive, maybe just Vintage Collection, but 1 thing is for sure, we will get more figures in 2026, I just hope it will not be Queen Marlena, Orko, Prince Adam, or the 2.0 versions of Stinkor, Spikor, Grizzlor...at this point we need new faces, preferably snake faces...
@sketchyskeletor While I agree with many of your criticisms, when it comes to those first several waves of Origins, please let’s not be some of those people who forget (or deny) there was a worldwide catastrophe then (because it destroyed my life, not just some dollies distribution.)
Fair is fair.
What happened later, with the Snakes glut, etc yep definitely I’m with you.
I honestly don’t take any of Mattel’s issues personally and can live with most of it, but I am bummed with this supposed phasing out of MV. (That, and Mekaneck’s neck in Origins lol).
Yes nothing is a given even if we contact them etc, but if we don’t, they have no reason to assume we care.
@sci-fitsunami On the front page news, @admin talks about his interaction with Mattel, which sounds very much like announcing the end *except* vintage, but there seems to be some wiggle room possible.
They just revealed Chronicles Panthor so I will be getting Battle Cat & Panthor to go into my regular Origins collection. I would buy Panthor no matter what anyway. Panthor is an automatic buy for me.
@Yen
I put together a list of the characters from the original line that I want in Masterverse. I don't want Hurricane Hordak or Buzzsaw Hordak. Also not counting all the POP females (I have them all in Classics so they'll have to do). This is only a list of the ones I want. We'll never get them all in 1 year. We'll be lucky to get 3 or 4. I could see Dragon Blaster Skeletor, King Hiss & maybe Rattlor being oversized MC exclusives.
DRAGON BLASTER SKELETOR
MODULOK
MULTIBOT
EXTENDAR
KING HISS
RATTLOR
RIO-BLAST
ROKKON
STONEDAR
BLAST-ATTAK
ROTAR
TWISTOID
SAUROD
SNAKE FACE
SSSQUEEZE
Most of them probably aren't even on the table like Multi-Bot, Modulok, Stonedar or Rokkon.
I was horribly disappointed with the lack of SDCC reveals last year & I'm expecting to be even more disappointed this year.
I would love Queen Marlena to go with the King Randor & Prince Adam we already have. And I hope we get Scare Glow, Buzz Off, Stinkor, Webstor & Spikor in the Vintage collection. Spikor is my favorite character & the Revelation version kinda sucked. Not enough spikes. lol
@Cosmic
I'm ok with only the Vintage Collection continuing as long as:
A. It stops being a Walmart exclusive. Let Amazon, BBTS & EE also sell it.
B. They make ALL the characters.
C. They stop messing up the female faces.
New Eternia/Etheria were cool but getting all the vintage figures made into 7" scale is way better IMO. That's actually the way they should go. I've been calling Masterverse "The New Classics" and that would really fit with The Vintage Collection. But they gotta release more figures faster & not be tied to Walmart.
@cosmic As previously mentioned, given the suspicious omission of new Masterverse figures in October of last year, when Mattel actually renewed their catalog of Motu figures, if the incredible MV brand were to be discontinued, it is hypothesized that the Vintage Collection (the quintessence of nostalgia) and New Eternia/Etheria (which is known to brilliantly reinvent the aforementioned nostalgia) would be their safest bets. It is evident that the most cautious approach would be to prioritize these specific sublines. The most comprehensive clarifications may be provided in the near future, perhaps within the next two weekends. It is imperative that Dan undertake a thorough investigation into these matters.
We have been receiving a lot of inquiries asking if MASTERVERSE was cancelled. It has NOT been officially cancelled. (The website that claimed it was cancelled has since retracted that claim.) We spoke with Mattel and while it will no longer be the core offering (Chronicles will take its place), there are more Masterverse in the pipeline for 2026 and special releases planned within the Masterverse Vintage Collection. More Masterverse has not been ruled out for 2027. Mattel's exact quotes (no edits) are on He-Mania .com. If anything changes, or a cancelation is announced, we will update accordingly. For now, we'll leave you with a quote from Mattel "Stay tuned for more!" We will see what the future brings.

Wow! Telling us to do something that we will naturally be doing anyway is just so helpful. 🙄
This just in! New message from Mattel: "KEEP BREATHING OXYGEN!" 😜

What are you talking about? You are not going to stay tuned for more if Masterverse is cancelled.
So, after some time to digest this, I think it's somewhat understandable that Mattel wants to try and capitalize on the top-20 greatest hits one more time (i.e. release another line with the most popular characters). That's probably where they make the most money. What that does to the long-time collectors - well, that's probably another story.
I will personally not get the new figures. Not because I don't think that they look cool. But I just don't want to do this dance all over again. I'll finish Origins, and add the odd MV figure while the line lasts. But that's gonna be it. I deliberately avoided some other IPs to not get too distracted and start bleeding money. But with MV and Origins (OG) ending - that frees up some funds...

But if the Vintage Collection continues... 😀 👍
As long as it's 7" scale I'm still in.

If they hadn't been widely available in Europe as happens every time America get understocked, I'd agree!
