@Cosmic Hordak, Mantenna, Mosquitor, & Dragstor are MOTU not POP. I'm talking about the POP 40th anniversary, Glimmer, Sweet Bee, Mermista, Netossa, Flutterina, Castaspella, Entrapta etc. We didn't get jack-shit.
They might argue Hordak was marked as New Etheria, him and Mantenna & Co were in the cartoon.
And we did get a new She-Ra that only I liked 😏
But YES, you are right, in Masterverse it was very little, almost no Rebellion. In Cartoon Collection, it was more.
You know what I would love to see, either in MV or Origins: PoP designs that mix the Filmation and the toy look. Or where you can modify to make it look more like toy, or more like Filmation.
I know there are a lot who want the Filmation gals, but to me they aren’t always the most interesting toys… A bit more creativity, bring in some vintage toy elements, I think they could be really fun figures with multiple display options.
in the last few waves Mattel teased so many great figures that it would be a crime not to make it happen, crime against humanity...
A look at the full packaging for for the MASTERVERSE Masters of the Universe “Vintage Collection” MER-MAN Action Figure.
We have the Power!
@admin I just saw the look of the MV VC Mer-Man that Toy Habits shared. Fortunately, the previous pictures seen on the web were nowhere near the quality of the final product.
Indeed! It's shaping up to being (at least to me) the best Vintage Collection figure yet!
We have the Power!
@Cosmic I agree. Mainly for Catra. I never understood why Filmation basically put Catra in a sexier version of Shadow Weaver's outfit. I don't like Catra's cartoon outfit at all. I don't understand why you would use solid red/maroon for a cat themed character? And I don't understand why they never make modern toys of Catra in her original toy outfits. Not even in Classics. WTF?
I just got Masterverse Despara/Adora. I popped her hair off, sanded down the back of her head & then repositioned the hair to fit better & give her a normal non-Klingon forehead. It looks much better but now her hair is way too light/bright. I thought I fixed her but there is still more work to be done. I pulled out my Classics Adora & compared them. Classics is superior in every way. So I started thinking, why am I even bothering trying to get Masterverse versions of these characters? I already have the superior Classics versions. And with Mattel screwing up the faces more often, I'm not exactly sure what I wanna do about collecting going forward. I get the feeling there's not gonna be much I'll want in 2026 anyway.
Also, the new Adora face looks like Daryl Hannah. Anybody else notice that? Or is it just me?
@sci-fitsunami I always had a crush on Darryl Hannah 😃 Don’t have mine yet. I hope I’m getting a good one 🤞
I suspect all the red in the Cartoon pops nicely, and goes with the Horde symbol. But it’ll stay an eternal conflict, how very different PoP was in the toys vs cartoon.
To me I think collecting Masterverse (and even Origins) is about the new-ness, that it’s current, and fun to see what comes next.
I have a half-baked Classics collection but instead of continuing with that, I got everything I can reasonably afford, and then started MV. At first to plug the many Classics holes, but now I’m way past that.
I love how agile the MV figures are, longer arms, free moving legs,… upper body armor that is not so super-puffy… and a bit more creativity. Love when you have two display modes (or more). I really got into MV.
Classics looks a bit… old to me now… even though some of the sculpts are better, and it’s more nostalgic.
I think ultimately, the new-ness is what makes me keep collecting Masterverse… warts and all XD.
@admin They keep trying to add a secondary image to that classic Mer-Man visual, and it always feels a bit… forced (as it was on his Origins card back).
The Teela abduction insert looks beautiful, too, it’s just… not really fitting together.
I like this ridiculous guy, I only have a couple “vintage” figures so far, but he is different enough, I might have to get him!
@Cosmic If you're referring to the forehead, there are no "good ones". The head under the hair piece needs to be ground down with a Dremel or cut/shaved with an X-Acto knife.
Well? Any feedback? Better? Worse? I think it's just a slight improvement. I'm still not happy with this figure.
I also wanted to swap out the brown legs with flesh from another figure to make Adora accurate. But none of the flesh tones match. The only one that might work is the New Etheria She-Ra. But that would mean blowing $30 just for the legs. Evil-Lyn, Teela & Sorceress all have darker or more yellowish flesh tones.
Also, I pre-ordered 2 Dragstors from amazon for $23.75 each. Then it said "currently unavailable" for a while. Now he's back up for pre-order for $29.99.
@sci-fitsunami I think your version looks good, though depending on the angle, I get what they’re going for in the original… the hair is pulled back, thus exposing the forehead… it’s not trying to look like the classic Adora.
It looks like they went to far with it, though I’m curious how it’ll look like in hand.
Changing it like you did is better on the first look, though now the hair looks like it’s growing on her forehead, when u look closely. (Because of how the actual hairpiece is designed in the “pulled back” look.)
The face is… particular. I liked the She-Ra face, will be curious how I’ll like this in hand. Right now it looks a bit too… eccentric.
@sci-fitsunami Oh man, that is so terrible, haha. In a twisted way I'm glad Mattel keeps fucking up the heads so badly because it's curing me of my completist addiction.
Thanks for saving me money Mattel! I can put that into other toy lines or unrelated hobbies that put out competent product!

Same, three figures a wave and it's still a stretch for them!
@Durendal What's terrible? The original or my attempt to fix it?
I agree, I'm gonna have to start skipping the bad ones & start cherry-picking only the really good ones. They keep messing up the females & the females are the most important to me.
@sci-fitsunami Remember the faces of the Revelation and Revolution were pretty good? IMO
The first He-Man was meh but with the characterization in the show as a happy warrior, even that one made sense (I skipped him tho, in favor of the BA Rev He-Man). ( The first wave was crappy I guess, I never got that Skeletor either.)
But the Teela faces and Evil-Lyn, Fisto, Clamp-Champ,… were pretty good I thought. Of course they were a bit more anime inspired…
Not sure why it’s such hit and miss with New Eternia human faces. (More miss)
I read from a toy insider that a lot depends on the overseas personnel. They are much more than just the factory. It sounded like often the US designers are only making the prototypes, and China (or Vietnam) is figuring out all the rest.
Looks like MOTU is having trouble getting the right people.
@sci-fitsunami The original is awful with the hideous fivehead. You made her look much better.
@Durendal Cool! Thanks! I tried to get it closer to the Classics. The hair color is still way too light/bright. I need to darken it a bit or add a wash. And I need to get her some new flesh colored legs.
I wonder if there's any chance they will add Adora to the Vintage Collection even though she didn't have a figure in the original line? Just like Teela, she really needs a new headsculpt. And the correct legs.
@sci-fitsunami It’s funny, I know what you mean but I didn’t even notice the legs until someone pointed it out– seriously. 😅
I feel they did with her what they did for Adam in 200X and the CGI series. And with Robin the Boy Wonder. More modern.
I wouldn’t mind a more vintage accurate version as well, Vintage Collection would be perfect for it.
@Cosmic They tried to combine Despara & Adora into 1 figure & failed at both. Adora is not 100% and Despara looks nothing like Despara. An alternate outfit? Maybe. But it looks nothing like the classic gray & black version we got in Classics & Origins. It would have been so much better if they released 2 separate figures. This new figure is cool but I really wanted the classic gray/black Despara. I mean, if they can release perfect versions of Mosquitor, Dragstor, Mantenna, Grizzlor & Leech, WTF happened here???
@sci-fitsunami Because the females always get the shaft (and not in the good way)

Nice job!
The overall head isn't exactly what we all expected, but it is much more palatable than some of the other MV ladies...
>>>The Power of the Good and the Way of the Magic!<<<
The current wave is on Cretins alongside Origins Randor and the first 200x wave.
@sci-fitsunami New Eternia is usually a redesign. Look at Fisto, and even Mantenna looks different than his classic Origins (them red sneakers), as well as Leech etc.
Maybe it’s because I was never attached to Despara, I like this version, I find it fitting for New Eternia.
@Cosmic I think the figure is awesome just not for Despara, more like a new Horde character. I'm thinkin a generic female army builder Horde elite guard or a general. I love the red eyes on the head with short hair. I wouldn't mind having about 4 for a small army. I also wish she had a red cape like the Origins figure instead of black.
Every time I get a new figure I start redesigning it my head. What would I do differently if I worked at Mattel or Hasbro? lol
