@sci-fitsunami Big YES to NE Rio Blast and Vintage Scareglow. Although I'd also like a NE Scarglow with Vintage sensibilities (ie the NE Belt and unique loincloth. Love those details). But we need a SG sculpted 100% in GITD material with the black bits painted. Hell, I'd even buy a 3p wired cape.

I just posted this on Toy Habits Black Wizard page:

  Why do they even bother with Masterverse? We're never going to get all these awesome Origins figures in the good line.
  Collectors don't even care about these new characters, they have no attachment or nostalgia for these characters. Read all the comments. They buy these but they don't really care about them because there's no nostalgia/connection.

  I say collectors don't really care because of all the fatigue & the lack of interest in the Snakemen. And the fact that I just picked up He-Ro & Sharella for $8 each from MC because they never sold out.

  All these figures would work better in Masterverse, the actual "NEW" and modern line, not the old nostalgia line.

  I've been thinking about this more & more. I'm pissed at how Origins got the full complete line of 10 Rulers Of The Sun figures but Masterverse only got Sun Man & Pig Head. I'm not a huge fan of ROTS but they are cool enough for me to want to complete the set. Just like New Adventures only got He-Man, Skeletor & Slush Head. I despise the New Adventures cartoon but the character designs are awesome for the more realistic Masterverse figures.

If Mattel is going to half-ass it, why even bother? I want the other 8 ROTS to complete my Masterverse set. For me, this makes toy collecting feel like a complete waste of time.

These figures need to be in Masterverse but all we'll ever get is Origins. No nostalgia for the nostalgia line. I would go nuts over Gladiator & Bandwith in the Masterverse line.

@sci-fitsunami Disagree. I see Origins as a continuation of the vintage line as if it hadn't been abruptly cancelled in 1987. I love that we're finally getting figures that should have come out back then!

@sci-fitsunami  I see Origins as a continuation of the vintage line as if it hadn't been abruptly cancelled in 1987.

   Thats exactly how I see it. But others are bitching about everything that wasn't in the vintage line. Like Sting-Or. I saw reviews that were like "Who the hell is this guy?"  "Is he worth picking up"? And the constant complaining about the Snakemen. Toy Sorceress on Toy Habits said she doesn't really care about the 4-packs, she bought the 1st one but then sold or traded some of them. The interest for new characters just isn't there because the nostalgia isn't there. While my absolute favorite Origins figures are Sting-Or and Necro Conda.  But I really want them in Masterverse not Origins.

@sci-fitsunami To be fair, all the reviewers like to post “controversial” titles to generate clicks. Everything is clickbait now 🙄

So your theory is that these non-nostalgia characters would do better in Masterverse, because,…

they could do their designs more justice, go all out ?

Or because the MV collectors don’t care as much about nostalgia, but want cool designs and are more open to modern stuff?

I would say that in MV the vintage-based stuff still sells better, no?
As collector of both lines, I don’t share your level of frustration, but ofc I’d like to see more love for MV.

I’m not a big fan of these Classics-era new characters but I do like we see new stuff in Origins, not only the original vintage characters.

@Cosmic  Going back to my original post about the Black Wizard I said:

"Why do they even bother with Masterverse? We're never going to get all these awesome Origins figures in the good line."

  Origins is the nostalgia line & Masterverse is the newest, modern era like the sequel/successor to Classics. But Origins gets all the best stuff while Masterverse feels like an afterthought that is barely hanging on. Masterverse should be the main line for 2026 getting all the good stuff. When Classics was out it didn't have any competition. I think it's backwards as hell. Masterverse should be the main line getting all these new characters first & then Origins later. Masterverse is supposed to be the main modern line & Origins, the old 80s "origin"/nostalgia line, should be the side project.

Every time Toy Habits posts Mattel Creations/Club Grayskull news it's always Origins. Am I the only one who gets pissed off? Sharella, Sting-Or, Vultak, Great Black Wizard, Red Shadow, Swift Wind, Night Stalker, they should all be in Masterverse. But all we get for Masterverse is a Horde Trooper, Panthor & Moss-Man. Lagging way behind Origins. No new original characters, just new designs.

  Mattel puts everything into Origins & then their like, "Oh yeah, we have that annoying Masterverse thing going on too. We almost forgot about it. Well, we better make something for it, but we don't really want to. We would rather focus 100% of our attention on Origins."

  I love Masterverse but I'm starting to wonder why it still exists at this point. Mattel obviously doesn't really give a shit about it. We're never going to see all 10 Rulers Of the Sun in Masterverse. We're never going to get any Sketchbook figures in Masterverse. Never going to get any of the 4-pack characters like Paragon Champion or Horde Revenant. I'm never going to see my 2 favorite Origins Figures in Masterverse (Necro Conda & Sting-Or). So now I'm thinking "What The F is the point?  Why am I still wasting money on this line?" They're not putting any effort into it.

I know a vast majority will disagree with me on this, but I really wouldn't mind if Mattel turned Masterverse into a "post vintage" iteration of MOTU figures.

These figures would be focused solely on New Adventures of He-Man, DC Eternity War, Son of He-Man, and -yes- the 2026 live action MOTU movie.

(Of course I love the New Eternia branch [mostly], so I'd like that to continue as well...)

@ornclown As a long-time fan of the franchise who had the privilege of experiencing those Mattycollector days, I'd say you're not the only one silently expecting this. This is mostly because the encyclopaedic Motuc Classics brand was exactly where it was leading us before the bubble burst. My interest has waned drastically lately (there's zero visibility on the Masterverse line and its future, if any), and I'd like Mattel to reignite this fire with more engaging news sooner rather than later.

We'll know in a month or two how they intend to treat MV because of the movie. But it's been a shambles since the insane overproduction for Revelation. Even the facesculpting - it's either phenomenal or complete dross. Don't get me started on the ten different sublines...

Exactly. That falls under what I'm saying, they're not putting their all into it.

People didn't like the New Etheria She-Ra face. Ok, that's just one time. Get over it! Let it go.

But then Teela too? Again? 2 times?

And now Adora? 3 times? Now we have a problem.

Did Masterverse even get anything for the She-Ra 40th anniversary? For the females, are we stuck with only She-Ra, Frosta, Catra & Shadow Weaver?

@sci-fitsunami We had the NE She-Ra, Hordak, Mantenna, Mosquitor, technically Dragstor and Despara,… Even though some were not New Etheria. She-Ra and Hordak were though.

Speaking of, got a big bill from BBTS today, filling my Preorder of Keldor, Dragstor, Origins Marlena,… Almost time to pull the trigger on pile of loot again, with some other stuff already there.

@Cosmic Hordak, Mantenna, Mosquitor, & Dragstor are MOTU not POP. I'm talking about the POP 40th anniversary, Glimmer, Sweet Bee, Mermista, Netossa, Flutterina, Castaspella, Entrapta etc. We didn't get jack-shit.

Mattel dropped the ball big time with the She-Ra 40th Anniversary...

There were numerous opportunities to do something amazing to celebrate PoP, but instead we got a rehash of the CC She-Ra riding a funky looking Swifty and a Barbie in She-Ra cosplay. 🙁

....oh yeah, don't forget the Matty exclusive t-shirts and ceramic mug. 😑

@Ornclown  It's kinda funny how MC is selling a poster of She-Ra & Swift Wind for $25 when the figure comes with a big cardboard backer with the same artwork that can used as a poster. A She-Ra poster on one side & the Sorceress on the other.

@ornclown Weeell I thought that Swifty was pretty epic, once you turn the back legs the right way 😅

Of course this was not enough, 100% agree.

I guess though, the whole CC of this year was officially She-Ra / Hordak rebranded, too. Seems just so long ago, but kind of a big deal.

Again, would have loved a bigger representation of the Rebellion, for sure. But, the villains were important, too.

I agree it’s just… incomplete, that Etheria CC, definitely. (not to derail this MV channel.)

(I sincerely hope there will be a bit more, with time)

@yen1893 This is a tipping point for any collector of this brand. There's no need to speculate further if not even one figure is included in the roster of reveals, in my opinion.

@onlyoneskeletor idk, we'll see, there's also some Toyfair coming soon, Mattel will be there...btw, I see Origins will continue (Blast Attack announced), few Vintage Collection figures were announced already (Mer Man, Evil Lyn, Wundar), let's keep the hope alive, what else can we do ?

@yen1893  I'm not sure what to think about these rumors at this point. Mattel clearly planned these MV figures, so why didn't they introduce Wun-Dar and Evil-Lyn when they were renewing their catalog last October? Every MV figure that was shown at the event was familiar to the collectors. Two new Origins figures were added to the selection previously presented during the SDCC though, which leaves me highly skeptical. In a best-case scenario, they will undoubtedly borrow that "full vintage" approach, as it's the winning factor in any toyline. Nothing rivals the power of nostalgia, not even the awe-inspiring New Eternia line. This topic will not be ignored for long. I'm eager to find out!

2022 = Catra
2023 = Frosta & Shadow Weaver
2024 = NOTHING
2025 = Adora

I would LOVE to have all the POP girls in Masterverse. The 40th anniversary was my best hope to get a couple more. But now???
