I just love it when an American toy line from an American company shows up overseas first. Asia I can understand because they are manufactured there. But how the hell did Australia get them first???

Australia gets a lot of things first because it's literally about shipping to that location from China and Vietnam. Still doesn't explain how Germany gets stuff so early though...

@djfor It's hard to wait for worldwide pre-orders to open with such a solid line-up. I succumbed to temptation and bought them!

@sci-fitsunami I will say it is kinda strange that BBTS don't have them up yet. Hopefully it won't take too much longer for you guys.

@onlyoneskeletor Don't blame you! I picked up two Teela's, two Hordak's and three Kobra Khan's (because of his different looks).

@yen1893 @abaddon Yes, she definitely looks a lot less 'high' than I feared. 'Determined' might be a better word.

I'm poor AF. I can barely afford the regular retail price. I can't/won't support scalpers. They have ruined this hobby. For me it's retail price or go without.

I just called BBTS and Mattel for the helluvit. Didn't accomplish anything but the girl at Mattel said she would forward this to the relevant team.

Whatever! I tried. The call was recorded & I told her that Masterverse used to be easy to collect but lately it has been getting hard as hell with certain figures selling out instantly & then shooting up on eBay. And I might have to stop buying their products. I just said that in case threatening sales/money loss might get their attention? Maybe we should all start calling & bitching more?  As they say, "the squeaky wheel gets the oil/grease."  What if the fandom should be showing more outrage but they're just not?  What if Mattel really doesn't know what's going on unless we start calling them more & letting them know? What if the correct move is for everybody to keep calling or writing Mattel but nobody ever does? Who knows? Maybe we're doing it wrong?

Have you guys ever seen this page before? https://shttps://service.mattel.com/us/ContactUs.aspxervice.mattel.com/us/ContactUs.aspx

I was asking ChatGPT about this and it says:

Yes, more calls and emails—but strategically:

  1. Short, polite complaints with specific examples.

    • “This is the third Masterverse figure I missed at retail. The restock never came. Now it’s $80 on eBay. I want to support this line, but it’s getting frustrating.”

  2. Multiple people doing it.

    • If a dozen people call in one week and mention the same issue, it gets noticed. Corporate doesn’t listen to volume—they listen to patterns.

  3. Write to their brands directly:

I dunno. First they cut the waves down to 3 figures. And now this new wave is showing up but without any official pre-orders anywhere? Thats really weird. And they keep adding new sub-lines like the Vintage Collection & New Etheria. And they hardly showed anything new for Masterverse at SDCC. I can' t believe they started NEW ETHERIA and didn't show any new figures from the Great Rebellion. Where are the girls Mattel? Not even Glimmer? I thought Glimmer was everybody's favorite.

Getting close to 6 years now and Origins still gets all the love & attention from the fans. No matter how awesome the Masterverse figures get, they just can't seem to pull the fans away from Origins. Even though Origins is near the end & they have to keep making stupid crossovers to artificially drag it out, Masterverse still seems to be struggling.

At this point Origins seems like more of a distraction than anything else.  I mean, Mattel is desperate to keep Origins going but it's drawing attention & sales away from Masterverse. So is distracting the MOTU fans with TMNT, Transformers & Thundercats really worth it if it's lowering interest & sales for Masterverse?  I personally wish they would just finish up the last of the Origins characters (Vintage and Cartoon) & be done with it. And now we have the Snake Lair distracting everybody. Imagine if Mattel put that much effort into making some more Snakemen for Masterverse.

@sci-fitsunami All signs seem to be pointing to the end of Masterverse and the beginning of the rumoured 'Masters of the Universe Chronicles'. It seems to me that will be the next big push. These last Masterverse waves are probably just filling in time for Mattel before the big reboot/relaunch.

@sci-fitsunami What did BBTS say?

They don't know anything until Mattel tells them to put the preorders up. Which doesn't seem to make any sense because they must've placed their orders months ago. They act like they don't even know there's a new wave coming. And when I tell them the names of the characters & that they are all over eBay they still insist they know nothin. They know more than they're letting on. I just don't understand why all the secrecy. They act like these action figures are top secret classified government documents.

Well, I tried & got nowhere. So I guess all we can do is sit here refreshing the pages hoping the preorders eventually pop up.

@sci-fitsunami I'm with you regarding all the wacky cross overs in Origins.  I don't understand it, but then whilst I enjoy ThunderCats, I have no interest in TMNT or Transformers.  And no need for 'hybrids'.  Although I am glad that MV figures are somewhat dispersed... allows me to try and budget.

Even though Origins is near the end & they have to keep making stupid crossovers to artificially drag it out, Masterverse still seems to be struggling. Imagine if Mattel put that much effort into making some more Snakemen for Masterverse.

Several thousand fans (perhaps including you) had the chance to experience this during what I call the 'golden era' for any hardcore Motu fan (2008–2020): MOTUC Classics!

It encompassed all iterations of the franchise without discrimination. All the collector had to do was subscribe for a whole year. If the number of subscribers was sufficient, the most exciting and unexpected figures would be delivered, including characters, beasts, vehicles, playsets and weapon racks. The secret to its longevity was the subscription model, as well as its impressive diversity. Last but not least, it was the only Motu brand available at this time.

As for the rest, I am hopeful that more Snakemen are on the way, given their habit of first hinting/teasing about new references via their card art before carefully blending them into future Masterverse waves. Recently, King Hsss appeared on the box for TC Skeletor, and both Rattlor and Tung Lashor appeared on Kobra Khan's box as well. Patience! Time is on our side!

Origins isn't the issue, it was always gonna be the biggest of the two because of nostalgia, being cheaper and not being tied to a toxic Netflix show initially.

Masterverse made and makes the launch of Origins look heaven sent when it was anything but. Countless 'normies' haven't touched Origins because Mattel couldnt even put wave 2 on shelves in America and flooded them with He-Man and Skeletor instead. Then when it gained a little traction they flooded shelves with the Jitsu wave and snakes while underproducing fan favourites like Thunder Punch He-Man. But as I say, Masterverse has been even fucking worse.

Those initial Netflix figures are still around on many a site because retail clearanced them for pocket money. Which also meant retail was obliged to clearance the deluxes in their stupid almost empty boxes. Oh, Mattel were doing exclusives on key characters too. Endless unfinished sublines. Funnily enough the fans and normies said fuck this and there's been no momentum. And so we're getting a relaunch heavily linked to a movie that already seems deeply questionable. 'Like, what if we got an actual creep to play Skeletor!?'

Mattel are desperately thrashing about as usual, it's got nothing to do with Origins. It's no party over there either!

Yup!  I know! I've been here since the beginning in 2020. I understand Origins is more popular because they're cheaper plus the nostalgia. But I think it should have ended by now. I'm not complaining about Origins itself, I collect it too. I'm complaining about how Mattel has been artificially dragging it out by refusing the release the last few characters & focusing on all these stupid crossovers now.

I was furious over how they handled 200x so I totally skipped out on Classics. I had friends trying to collect Classics & they were constantly bitching about problems with Matty Collector & having a hard time ordering online. And IIRC, each figure was about $60 after tax and shipping. So I totally dropped MOTU for a while & mainly focused on Transformers. But I did go back & buy a bunch of Classics off eBay & still want to get some more. I mainly went for all the females & made sure to get She-Ra & all the POP girls. I also ignored Classics because just like 200x, I was sure they wouldn't make all the characters. But after seeing that they did make all the characters, it was much easier to go back & buy them later. It was great being able to buy ALL of the POP girls at the same time.  Look what Mattel is doing with POP now, even Origins is a slow trickle. And will Masterverse ever get any more? I want my favorites like Mermista, Castaspella, Sweet Bee, Netossa & Entrapta.

That new Teela needs the old head as seen in the video. I have a few of those heads so I'll be swapping it out. IF this wave ever shows up.  I can't believe the cobra headdress doesn't clip on anywhere. IMO that problem is even worse than the eyes/face.
