A LEGACY ENDS: Mattel displays unexpected transparency by announcing the Masters of the Universe: Origins Vintage Action Figure line is over.

An era has ended.

Back in 2019, the Masters of the Universe: Origins Vintage action figure line was officially announced at San Diego Comic-Con.

Beginning with a SDCC He-Man and Prince Adam 2-Pack, this exclusive set kicked off seven years of an unprecedented action figure line within the Masters of the Universe brand.

All good things come to an end though, it seems, now that Mattel has officially announced the Origins vintage line is completed. Here is Mattel’s official announcement:

By the Power of Grayskull… the Vintage Line is complete. ⚡

One legendary line has reached its final chapter, celebrating the heroes and villains that built the world of Eternia. But if there’s one thing we know about Masters of the Universe… the adventure is never truly over.

The announcement is surprisingly transparent, so much so that we wonder if this will refreshingly become the new status quo under new Mattel Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Roger Lynch.

When it came to countless scenarios before, either with Masters of the Universe action figure lines, television shows and more, Mattel would normally remain tight-lipped about continuations (even if it meant leaving the fandom in a constant state of limbo.)

Alas, new norm or not, the transparency is welcome… even though the end of the Origins Vintage line is not… leaving many classic recreations still on the table like the 1987 Movie figures, the Meteorbs… and even the iconic Battle Ram.

But if this is truly the end of the Masters of the Universe Origins Vintage action figure line, while technically incomplete, what a wonderful seven years it has been.

We are so grateful for how this line ushered a magnificent new age for He-Man collectors… making so many of us feel like kids once again.

Thank you to all the great talent over at Mattel that made Masters of the Universe: Origins Vintage a reality.

We’ll see you next time.
