Now that the brand new “Masters of the Universe” movie is about to finish its theatrical run, we wanted to launch a brand new series discussing what could have been… reports on exciting content that was omitted from the finished He-Man film as early as the pre-production phase, and as late as in the editing room.
Today, we are looking closer at the demise of Moss Man. When Skeletor turns Moss Man into mulch in the middle of the film, that spells the end for the fan-favorite leafy-green heroic warrior. However, when we chatted with Pig Boy actor Arun Bassi on the FOR ETERNIA Podcast, we learned there was a little more story to ‘consume‘ about the mossy warrior.
Here is what the Pig Boy actor had to say:
ARUN BASSI: “The thing that I was I would say most gutted that didn’t make it in (the movie) was after Moss Man (was killed by Skeletor) and we’d been shooting that one scene all day. It was a full day for just that one scene, where Skeletor was addressing the group and they’re all on their knees.”
“And throughout the whole thing, there was one part where Skeletor would instruct me to clean up – – when Moss Man gets turned to mulch. Jared would instruct me to clean him up by several different means throughout that same day. It would be scoop him up or put your face in it, whatever.
“-Then it got down to the last one of the last scenes, last camera setups of the day, and it was a practical, it was a practical moment. It was a practical effects. So they tipped out this bucket full of the mulch and it was this sticky seaweed mud crap. It was horrible. And I just went over to Jared (Leto) and I said to him before I was like, “Look, I’ll do whatever it is you say. If you want me to eat it, I’ll eat it. If like it’s fine. Just – say it so I can hear it.” Because actually I couldn’t hear through the the ears. And he did. And he said, “Eat, gobble him up or eat him up or something.” And then as I was and I did it. I shoved my face in there. [laughter] I scooped it up in my hands and I was shoveling into my mouth.
“It was great. – And it was all covered, all over Pig Boy’s face. And you know, he doesn’t even get a rag to wipe his face off before Skeletor shouting. And Skeletor was laughing at him. And then he walks off. And then Jared, I think, shouted, “Here, Piggy now. Here piggy.””
Now why this scene didn’t make the final cut, we don’t know. Perhaps it was due to pacing, or the scene didn’t work as well as it sounds. Perhaps audiences found it too distateful or too disrespectful to the fan-favorite character. Or perhaps they felt the scene would eliminate (in audience’s minds) Moss Man’s ability to return in a sequel.
Whatever the case, we do hope this scene makes it in the home video release either in a deleted scene supplemental section or in an alternate cut.

Ugh. Glad that was cut.
