Written by The long awaited cinematic return to Eternia is finally here and now we have some box office receipts to discuss.
According to Deadline, the audience’s attending He-Man’s early previews were lighter than expected, but Amazon MGM Studios still believes there is a path to a $30.1 Million Opening Weekend (which includes the early screenings tally).
DEADLINE: “Amazon MGM Studios’ Masters of the Universe was lighter at $11.7M previews/first Friday with the studio believing there’s still a path to $30.1M, which is where tracking was. Others see it lower.”
If this holds, this will likely result in the new “Masters of the Universe” movie opening in second place behind “Scary Movie” with a projected $56 Million bow, and ahead of “Backrooms” with a projected $25.7 Million take.
Unfortunately, as we reported HERE, seems “Scary Movie”‘s decision to move their film’s release date away from “Disclosure Day” and against “Masters of the Universe” appears to have been a wise decision on their part.

I saw it this weekend. It was a great action adventure flick. Unfortunately, the box office numbers mean a sequel is not likely.
Not trying to get hopes up but I could envision it to have strong long legs due to good word of mouth and thus possibly surpassing the followup BO expectations.
That’s it. Game Over for my favorite Franchise in Cinema. Germany only 1,9 Million… In talk with other Motu Fans here, the reasons maybe are:
no trust after some woke elements in Trailers, some said: “I don’t pay twice for a F***ing Amazon Movie!" and some said: This He-Man was the goofiest He-Man ever…
I feel sad. Maybe that wet fart at the Box Office means now: no Squels, no Live Action She-Ra Series… it is just over… Thanks to years of woke films from Hollywood the people don’t trust anymore…
While the numbers are depressing, I feel like the win isn’t necessarily in the money…but more the exposure. I just have a feeling Amazon/Mattel is in this for the long haul and the blockbuster movie was a means to get it into the headlines. The positive word of mouth will make this a must-watch when it hits streaming and once those viewer numbers are known, it’ll be enough for them to greenlight a sequel (albeit maybe with a lower budget).
@thetrickuporkossleeve exactly they did a movie and a Fortnite collaboration hopefully they gain enough hype for a next movie, if not oh well there is the She-Ra show coming and the older series we can rewatch…
You’re right, bro (bruh?^^)! If I understood it right from some youtube videos. Amazon confirmed yesterday that the boxoffice itself is not thier priority. It was a favor for the longtime motu fans to see He-Man in cinemas again. Amazon said that they make Profit with everthing around the Motu hype. Someone uon Youtube said before the Movie Release it was like around 862 Million Dollar and for only the movie merch ist was like 240 Millions alone. That let me hope that the Sequels and the series are save. After this long time waiting I don’t wanna wait 40 years again. Nuff’said. 😀
