The Masters of the Universe content just keeps on coming!
Comic publisher Dark Horse has just announced a 12 issue comic series beginning this August that will explore the backstories of Eternia, including the origin of Skeletor!

Announced through Slash Film, the opening three issue arc will be written by Rich Douek and illustrated by Gavin Smith and focus on the Evil Lord of Destruction himself.

Here is the synopsis:
"Discover the origins of your favorite heroes and villains! In issue #1, we meet Skeletor-a power-hungry demon-mage determined to seize control of Castle Grayskull, conquer Eternia, and become Master of the Universe"
This means this August, Masters of the Universe fans will have three separate comic titles to read: The ongoing series, the movie tie-In limited series “The Wings of Fate” and now “Genesis”! Wow!

Future arcs of “Masters of the Universe: Genesis” will includes stories by creators Cavan Scott, Nick Roche, John Harris Dunning, Giovanni LaPietra and Tiffany Smith (voice actress and writer of “Andra”!)
“Masters of the Universe: Genesis” #1 will come to comic book shops and digital retailers everywhere this Wednesday, August 5.
We’ll see you next time!

A year long series? That’s crazy!
This is awesome!
What a great year it is to be a MOTU fan
Could it be the best year ever? 2026 has a movie, three comics at the same time, a novel, a video game, different action figure lines, toys, food, everything!
Amazing! Yay for MOTU comics !!
Great to have MOTU comics! Sounds like we have another MOTU canon to learn. I guess we should be all used to this by now. 🙂
I hope the Genesis canon turns out to be the same canon as The Sword of Flaws otherwise it will get confusing for new readers.
I really hope they don’t try to give Skeletor yet another origin. Either expand on the demon from another dimension or retell the Keldor vs Randor story.
A power-hungry demon mage sounds like the Skeletor before Keldor was invented but you know more than me.
Thanks, but i’m not sure that I do know more than you. The thing is, demon mage could mean a lot of things. It could mean he’s a demon that’s a mage, or it could mean he’s a mage that practices demonic arts. Demon could also not be used, literally. In this case, like when my sister called Hiitler, a demon.
Whatever they do, i’m eager to read the backstory and I hope it’s more well developed than the mini comics demon, from another dimension that wanted to conquer grace goal because…
@smitty-81 If they go with the demon story it might be fun if it’s well developed. I don’t think we had a well developed demon story yet.
We did in the Revelation/ Revolution tie in comics but it turned out to be a lie.
Hordak brainwashed him just like he brainwashed Adoda.
No Keldor = LAME
