Written by Last week the packaging was revealed for the FRIGHT FIGHTER, a newly announced toy for the “Masters of the Universe” Movie Origins action figure subline.
When we decided to take a closer look at the packaging artwork today, there were some very cool reveals including He-Man riding a Sky Sled (a vehicle that was already confirmed to appear in the film, per an Empire Magazine article)…
…and Tri-Klops flying a Fright Fighter.
But what was most curious was the mysterious character riding the main Fright Fighter.
When we look at it closer, it does possibly have some similarities with Chief Carnivus, the leader of the cat warrior race called the Qadians, first introduced in the 2002 reboot animated series “He-Man and the Masters of the Universe“.
So is this Chief Carnivus flying perhaps a hijacked Fright Fighter? Or someone else entirely?
As we brighten the image, could what we see coming from the character’s head is tubes instead of horns, attached to a helmet?

I seem to be able to see horns on both sides of this head, the kind of twisted horns that look like “stretched out springs”. I’m not sure if it’s Carnivus, but have no idea who it could be.

@admin I agree tubes seem to be visible somewhat, so I started doing a deep analysis, keeping everything we know by now in mind, and combined it using
Occam’s razor as a principal directive. I came to the realization that this is a rendition of Beast Man; no so well drawn perhaps(?). But I fully believe this is meant to be Beast Man!
Occam’s Razor:
a problem-solving principle suggesting that when faced with competing hypotheses, the simplest explanation—requiring the fewest assumptions—is usually the best.

They still introduce new characters at their leisure, building anticipation among buyers. In reality, however, they never release more than 15–20 characters before rebooting another line (lol).
Masterverse is guilty of that but to be fair the Revelation and New Eternia lines lasted. Then there’s Origins.
The issue is nothing ever gets finished, you always get relatively close then it’s endless ‘roadblocks’ to stretch shit out further somehow. I mean vintage Origins still has a few years in it at the current rate of obfuscation! Filmation seems to have wound down far from being finished and with 200x*, well, they’re heavily hinting at New Adventures and now 2026 movie figures. Basically it’s anything but finish a given iteration.
Masterverse is on pause far from the finish line or whatever the BS phrasing was, nobody actually knows what Chronicles is including Mattel it seems, and now there’s a kids line. Hasbro wants it’s shtick back.
* and this is the second go for 200x.
To be fair does any big line ever finish? Even the vintage line stopped with more figures to make. I think any line with a big roster just Peters out eventually.
I mean even Hasbro is still plugging away at completing teams however they can do it across franchises and Mcfarlane has it’s foot out the door but is laying down all the hits recently. It doesn’t even own the DC licence. There’s simply no excuse for Mattel and it’s all completely deliberate in their case.
@onlyoneskeletor Did you not realize that Origins vintage lineup figures is literally 7 figures from being fully completed, from 1982-88? And Mattel is completing it fully. I am also convinced they will even do the two giants. So I’m eating good. We’re in the ultimate MOTU revival of the 21st century. And I foresee the Chronicles line to expand fully on all varieties of MOTU lore, which I am excited for even if I wish Masterverse New Eternia/Etheria would continue, I love how the smaller sized Chronicles line handled it from now on.
But since we’re at it, allow me to summarize a bit of my cursus as a Motu collector: I was lucky enough to fully embrace the MOTUC Classics line in the 2010s, albeit a little late, and circumstances were tricky as everything depended on an annual subscription to guarantee the maximum number of figures possible (mounts, vehicles, playsets, weapon racks, etc.). Then, in 2019, the fatal narrative emerged: ‘Motuc is on hibernation!’ Two years later, we learned that a succession plan was in the pipeline and that a few 7″ figures had been announced. ‘We heard you’. It was clear that Mattel intended to please this part of its customer base, who had been left behind after twelve exciting years. Then, almost five years later, here we go again: ‘Masterverse is on pause!’ Yeah, right! Keep your corporate speech for newcomers, thank you!
With the exception of the Origins line, which was intended to appeal to a new generation of children, Masterverse was a line aimed at adult collectors. A dozen sublines emerged from this, which is a tried-and-tested formula that defined the golden era of the past decade. However, what struck me was Mattel’s ever-growing bad habit of concluding each and every one of them sooner and sooner. With such immense potential, it’s disheartening to see them quickly discarded in favour of the “hot trends of tomorrow" (lol).I guess we hardcore fans don’t need to make any more sacrifices at this point: Princess of Power, New Adventures of He-Man and the 1987 film – we’re good!
To be perfectly honest with you, I’m really concerned about how low Mattel’s commitment to this Chronicles line may be, which is why I’ll severely restrict my spending on it unless a few forgotten references (Masterverse) finally emerge during the course of this new line.
Absolutely no way would Mattel advertise the evil warrior’s vehicle in the main pic with a good guy flying it. That would just confuse people on who the FF is for. Also, that character doesn’t look feline at all…
Do you have an idea who could it be? I can’t figure it out but I’m not an expert like many of the people here.
I think it is a different character entirely but if it is Carn it is peculiar that he is in a Fright Fighter.
Chief Carnivus? That’s some serious stretching AJ 🤣 There’s zero chance they’d include a Z lister like that if they don’t even have Stratos or Mer Man in this movie!
Or it could be The Cowardly Lion many years after Dorothy left Oz… 😉
