As reported in the most recent issue of EMPIRE Magazine, writer Dan Jolin joined director Travis Knight at the London office of DNEG where the “Masters of the Universe” movie is undergoing post-production.
Travis Knight and editor Paul Rubell showed the writer some work-in-progress sequences that included some reveals about Jared Leto’s Skeletor.
The first revelation was about Jared Leto’s body. While the 54 year old Jared is already in great shape with muscle definition…

…the actor still wore a practical muscle suit for the film. Here is the quote:
EMPIRE: "...though Leto is playing the character, the actor is all but invisible: his body is swathed in a blue-skinned muscle suit and his face is entirely replaced with a CG-animated skull."

But the Skeletor reveal didn’t end there. Fans have been wondering what this new movie Skeletor would sound like. Would Jared Leto be emulating the higher-pitched sound of Skeletor portrayed by the legendary actor Alan Oppenheimer in the 1983 Filmation Series “He-Man and the Masters of the Universe“?

Or would Jared Leto’s Skeletor sound more like actor Frank Langella‘s Skeletor in the 1987 motion picture “Masters of the Universe” (where the accomplished stage and screen actor intentionally delivered a Shakespearean-styled performance.) Apparently, it will be more the latter:

EMPIRE: "And while (Jared Leto's) vocalisation avoids rehashing the memorable nasal whine of the original cartoon Skeletor (voiced by Alan Oppenheimer), it doesn’t sound like his own, having instead a dry, Shakespearean timbre."
So there you have it Masters of the Universe fans! We can’t wait to hear Jared Leto’s vocals as Skeletor.
We’ll see you next time!

Hot damn. That’s my movie. The more this thing is influenced by 87 the better.
JARED LETO WILL BE THE COMEBACK KID!
I thought the blue suit was obvious, however I was reading social media reactions and some people thought Skeletor was totally computer generated.
It better be good
I need to get one of those suits for my husband. Hubba hubba! 😆
If you have to have Leto as Skelly, this is the way to do. And the “Shakespearean” tone is the way to go!
He better not “Joker" this thing! 🙂
Thanks for all the great updates AJ!
Awww I was hoping for a Filmation sounding Skeletor.
While I love Oppenheimers Skeletor I think the Langella flair fits a movie better. And with the far more accurate look it feels like we are getting the best of two worlds with Letos Skeletor.
