OUR REVIEW:
An oddly written episode where (for a good portion of the story) heroes & villians are drawn into a battle for Orko's "secret thing" without ever asking what that secret thing was. This script is full of illogical choices, an oddly realized new villian and a fully functional Sorceress beyond the walls of Castle Grayskull. (3/10)

Tomorrow’s Episode is: “Return of the Gryphon”

Let me get this straight. The yellow robot blasts Duncan and Teela unconscious and Prince Adam tells Cringer I know they look dead but don’t worry about them. No internal injuries. They just got the wind knocked out of them. Prince Adam must have a psychic medical degree. Lol
So why was the yellow Power Ranger after Orko?
I’ve never been a fan of this episode. It feels like they took 1/2 an idea and just made it work. The dialogue is bizarre, a lot of sentences don’t sound right when said aloud and characters saying things in a way they normally don’t. And it drives me nuts how they mostly refer to the dimensional sphere as the “secret thing” – it sounds lazy, almost like it was a placeholder they forgot to take out.
I also have to critique Skeletor’s negotiation skills – he hands over his only leverage (an already captured Orko) in exchange for Orko revealing “the secret thing”, and then leaves before the heroes even agree to it.
Only two positives I have: The Tar Swamp scene is cool, and I like that they actually show He-Man sitting in the throne room, emphasizing just how much the final fight took out of him.
All I’m gonna say is this is probably the most WTF episode so far.
Random golden caped robot that looks like it’s from a very retro anime randomly appears and wants Orko because something happening when he first came to Eternia wha?
Gotta love how Skel and Beast just casually show up at the palace (where are the guards?)
and when MAA is like “we’ll talk this over for an hour, Skeletor.", Skel just addresses He-Man. Yeah he calls Man-at-Arms by name later but I just like the fact that he’s so obsessed with beating He-Man in any way and throwing insults everywhere that he seemingly forgets who his other worst enemies are named are at times.
1 star. The first appearance of assclown skeletor. Not the last appearance unfortunatly.
