What we know about Skeletor’s BLUE SKIN in the New “Masters of the Universe” Movie!

While most people recognize that actor Frank Langella delivered a fantastic performance as Skeletor in the 1987 “Masters of the Universe” Movie…

…many fans still long for a cinematic interpretation of the villian known as the “Lord of Destruction” that matches the visual aesthetics of the classic character, especially his blue skin.

This is why when Skeletor actor Jared Leto (while filming the New “Masters of the Universe” Movie) posted an image of himself on Instagram (now deleted) holding the same type of rainbow cake that he gifted to some of the Evil Warrior actors…

..some fans immediately became concerned that we were getting a Caucasian Keldor (and possibly Caucasian Skeletor) because why would there be blood makeup on Jarred Leto’s normal face if the intention was to paint his skin blue underneath it?

However, some fans did not realize this picture of Jared Leto with fake blood was actually an old photograph taken several years earlier while he was on the set of “Morbius” (showing off the same type of cake.)

In actuality, while we do not know if there will be a Keldor version of Skeletor in this New “Masters of the Universe” Movie (and if that incarnation of Keldor will be blue skinned)…

…what we do know is (according to eye-witness accounts), this Movie Skeletor will indeed have blue skin based on the content screened at CinemaCon back in April.

That’s right! And while we read a few accounts of people who were at the CinemaCon event spotting Skeletor movie concept art featuring a blue skinned Skeletor, it was IGN that got us excited the most when they indicated they actually witnessed “glimpses of makeup being applied” to actor Jared Leto that (in addition to the production art) likely confirm a blue Skeletor.

IGN: "Brief on set footage of Jared Leto as Skeletor kept him in the shadows, but production art and glimpses of makeup being applied indicate he will likely also be sporting the character’s blue skin from the toy line, unlike the version in the 1987 Masters of the Universe movie."

A Skeletor with practical blue skin make-up that looks like a figure from the toyline? Our dreams have come true.

Filming has wrapped for the “Masters of the Universe” Movie with the the big budget film scheduled to be released in cinemas worldwide on June 5th, 2026.

We’ll see you next time!

    1. So much for recasting…

I mean to be fair that upcoming Tron movie from the trailer looks like Leto will have a helmet on most of the film, that is if anyone goes to see it. Tron Legacy I remember being good. Remember seeing it when I was 8, but I don’t know WHY Disney got this far into production despite probably knowing why this guy is controversial and Leto has been attached to this development hell film for years and that probably immediately killed most people’s interest in a 3rd Tron movie if there was any.
Two years ago Disney released a 2nd movie based on their iconic Haunted Mansion ride that no one saw because of how bad they marketed it. Leto was in it portraying the infamous Hatbox Ghost (If you’re a big theme park nut like me, you KNOW the real life legend of that character), but from what I can remember because I did see the movie, he was barely in it and when he was, his character was either a CG or they barely showed his face in a flashback and overall within the the plot the titular mansion belongs to his character is really just a posthumous plot device.
Basically the way I see it, I think even though Hollywood is for some reason still giving the method actor cult leader weirdo major work, they’re at least willing to advertise him in a movie then proceed to have the least of his actual face shown as they can. They probably keep casting him because there’s the phrase “No such thing as bad publicity".
What I’m really hoping for is Skeletor’s face to be a mo-cap skull.
Honestly that’s preferable in my book because I’m gonna make a hot take and say I think Leto could work as Skel with how weird he acts. but it’s more of a “Wait and see" type scenario.
