OUR REVIEW:
A more easygoing Granamyr is back requesting He-Man to solve the case of the disappearing dragons, an enjoyable episode featuring the debut of Mekaneck and Kobra Khan. While we miss the dragon's more rigid personality, He-Man enjoying Granamyr torture Orko at the end (while also out of character) is worth the price of admission. (7/10)

Tomorrow’s Episode is: “The Shadow of Skeletor”
I LOVE this episode, it’s one of my favorites from S2. There’s so much good animation, and I love seeing He-Man surrounded by pretty much Season 2 characters. I will always defend this show against being a shoe-in new toy commercial like G.I. Joe or Transformers, but I do wish we had some more like this with He-Man interacting outside of the main cast. Kobra Khan in particulary is done so well in this show, he’s the only Evil Warrior that’s never presented as bumbling and always comes across as sinister/scary.
It’s also interesting that except for his next appearance, Granamyr is always meeting a main character for the first time. I definitely see why they waited on Orko, his vibe doesn’t really go too well with Granamyr. I’ll also say that the “end the episode on a funny note" tends to be very hit or miss, but I always find this one to be hilarious.
This is a fun one. Good clean fun. I would consider it a popcorn episode. There is a Mekaneck backstory episode coming so I wonder why this episode came first.
The mix of characters in this episode is good.
I’m somewhat surprised that Mekanek and Man-E appear so little in this show, less than 5 episodes each because I assumed getting into this fandom that they were B-tier/prominent recurring characters in Filmation due to them being some of the most memorable of the OG toyline (or at least had the toys with the most memorable gimmicks), as well as being parodied on shows like Robot Chicken, Family Guy and Transformers Animated (It’s version of Blitzwing is a basic Man-E reference). Characters at least casual Gen Xers who aren’t fans but watched enough of He-Man would recognize. I mean that probably is the case but the cartoon is remembered as the main component of the franchise in it’s heyday over the comics and even to an extent the toys it was advertsing.
Speaking of which, I’m pondering how they’ve never considered making a big creature Granamyr toy?
@slycooperastroboy51 I think when it comes to Mekaneck there is not much a writer can do with him. His power is extending his neck and that’s it. Filmation"s contract with Mattel didn’t force Filmation to put new toys in episodes so Filmation probably figured there was not much else they could do with him. At least Ram Man could break things with his head and at the same time was slow and funny.
That’s a good question about a Granamyr toy.

Disappearing Dragons is great. I agree Granamyr had a personality change but I see it as personal growth. Before Granamyr would have said Orko showing up uninvited was rude but now he’s like whatever.
These Season 2 episodes have been outstanding. I saw the difference in Granamyr as a soften toward He-man because He-man has proven trustworthy and to be the “wisest of his kind."
I have to say, this re-watch has really endeared a few characters to me afresh and Granamyr is one of them.
5 stars. Orko is very annoying in this episode, but otherwise the cast both for the good guys and the bad guys is top tear, the fight scenes are some of the best in the series and he-man actually loses. Love it!
