  1. This is definitely a fun, great episode. I really like how Mer-Man can carry an episode as the lead villain over some other Evil Warriors, kind of like Trap-Jaw in “Ancient Ruins", he just never felt like a major threat. I remember as a kid how grand “Aquatica" felt, and I still feel that way as an adult, which is pretty impressive by Filmation standards.

I also agree with you that Cringer really shines in this episode and I like it. He and Orko tend to share the “comic-relief" role, but Cringer’s is never childlike the way Orko’s can be at times, so it’s nice when he can be the focus.

  2. Yeah this is going on my favorites list. Watched it before the watch-a-thon because it’s what Mer-Man’s Cartoon Collection figure is based on.
Mer is honestly one of those villains in this show that on the surface (no pun intended) seems like you can’t take seriously with his voice and a bit of his appearance but in this episode separate from Skeletor and Co. I think he actually is well enough.
Princess Nami or however it’s spelt? *Insert “He-Man predicted One Piece joke*
if someone makes another He-Man gay joke, show them that clip at the beginning of Adam playfully chasing women then correct them by saying “No, it’s actually his SISTER who’s gay.”
I know everyone can always hear Cringer talk and when he makes nervous comments they don’t listen because it’s usually played for laughs, but here it legit gave me the feeling of
To paraphrase a Hank Hill cameo on Family Guy:
“Ugh, dammit! I always wake up before I find out if they can understand the green tiger.”

  3. I agree with your score change AJ. This episode deserves a 9 or even a 10. It’s written like a big blockbuster movie that once the action begins it goes from set piece to set piece. It has everything. Aquatica is amazing. The colors of the background art are beautiful. I love the gems embedded in the walls. The production values are great like when we you can hear the audience roar as He-Man battles in the arena. Mer-Man proves again he is a great stand alone villian.

The one thing I want to know more about is the squid trap on the door. Is that a real squid that shoots ink? The scene was cool and the look of surprise on He-Man and Man-At-Arms face was priceless.
