Most people do not require an anatomy class to realize skulls do not emote.
Skulls are only a framework of bones in your head, while the actual facial movements are produced by muscles that connect to the skull underneath the skin.

However, when it came to the character of Skeletor and how a skull faced “Lord of Destruction” might be depicted in animation, creative liberties were taken with a skull’s ability to emote (other than his jaw.)

Beginning with the classic 1983 cartoon series “He-Man and the Masters of the Universe”, they contorted Skeletor’s skull to convey all sorts of emotion from surprise… to even joy (thank you Christmas Special.)

But when it comes to live-action adaptations of Skeletor, we are never certain what writers, producers and directors are going to aim for in regards to look and realism.

Well now with the new “Masters of the Universe” film directed by Travis Knight, we have that answer. Thanks to the newly released teaser trailer, we can safely say this live-action Skeletor (played by Jared Leto) can emote his skull. Check it out:
We didn’t realize some may have missed this, so thanks to the great community discussion from @ornclown @samuel and @adam_prince-of-eternia to spur on this article.
We’ll see you next time!

It’s subtle as all hell but I see it.
Very cool
Of course he can..Travis Knight knows what he is doing with Skeletor and knows that Jared Leto can deliver otherwise he wouldn’t have asked him to join. This movie is going to be a masterpiece!
Roboto still burns my chaps…
@hemanfan51 Roboto. Spikor. Sorceress. Maybe Beast Man.
@gettinhighlander Yeah. I meant the character design of Roboto. Missed opportunity for what could have been an amazing design!
Skeletor can emote everywhere 🤣
Interesting… I wonder how far they will go with the emoting…?
