The mask remains, but Red Shadow uses his abilities (and included club, dagger, and spear) to fight for King Grayskull.

FINISHING A 2025 TRIO

For the first year of Club Grayskull, we created three members-only figures. He-Ro and Sharella are now joined by Red Shadow in these Powers of Grayskull inspired releases.

BEHIND THE DESIGN

Red Shadow is said to be able to communicate telepathically with the fauna of Preternia. Our first-ever figure brings the character to life in the Origins line.

THE DETAILS

The included dagger can be held in Red Shadow’s hand for fighting and foraging, or stored in the sheath attached to his custom vine-like sash.

Orders for the Masters of the Universe: Origins Red Shadow Action Figure will be taken beginning November 18, 2025 09:00 am PT at the Mattel Creations website. The cost is $22.00 US.

We’ll see you next time!

  1. Okay, I’m stoked. A few thoughts:

-CLASSICS LIVES! Sorta. I was excited to see Lady Slither, Reptilax, Vypor, and Fang-Or get Origins releases, but this one seems to hit different. Maybe it’s because Red Shadow was from the first batch of new characters introduced in the second MOTUC mini-comic, but I’m a little more excited for him. I’m hoping for more (Bandwidth!)

-POWERS OF GRAYSKULL LIVES! I’m loving seeing more figures from this part of lost MOTU lore. Hopefully it continues next year so we can get Eldor, GB Wizard, and some more new additions.

-He looks great! I can’t remember if the sash was on Moss Man or another figure, but it’s right out of Classics.

-He comes with a mini-comic. That shouldn’t be noteworthy, but with the 200X figures…

-It looks like he’ll mostly have his late Classics bio as his story.

-Great Black Wizard is essentially the main villain of Preternia at this point. While I’m obviously down with more Classics representation, I always figured King Hiss for the main PoG baddie.

-This is the first time we’ve seen him without his mask. It’s removable, which I like.

-Two gripes. One, he doesn’t come with the teardrop-shaped Filmation creature (I’m not even attempting to spell it.) Two, and it’s a biggie, he’s supposed to have a red stripe down his back. That was his only distinguishing feature in his first appearance. It’s where his NAME comes from. Big whiff there.

-Gripes aside, I couldn’t be happier! More like this, Mattel!

  2. I like him! Though while a mask in this case is conceptually correct, I don’t love these very small thingies you have to wedge into the face… I would prefer a second head.

The face is ok but I like his masked look better. I mean, that was supposed to be his main look! But with these removable masks, I sense lot of times people will have him without. Which does look slightly goofy… while the mask really does look spooky.

I feel the sash is from 200X Moss Man? The club definitely is.
I want him regardless. Looking forward to the mini comic.
His color scheme looks great with the packaging, too!

    1. Always nice to see new characters get figures in the mythos, but seriously Mattel is willing to make anyone but Two-Bad. For all the Origins collectors out there, I feel for you.

I pulled the video up of Pixel Dan talking to the Mattel rep about CC Two-Bad and Dan brought up VC Two-Bad. The Mattel rep said they had him(them) sculpted and were waiting for the right time. The same year as CC Two-Bad was not the right time and the 40th anniversary of PoP was also not the right time, so hopefully 2026 will be the year we finish the class of 85 and, aside from movie and one Skeletor variant, characters complete the VC evil warriors.
