  1. A true pioneer and visionary. His posters defined movies and sagas from Indiana Jones to Star Wars, Back to the Future to The Thing.
His MOTU poster was the first Struzan poster I saw and the first thing I ever saw related to the movie ever happening in 1986? Maybe 87 and it was printed in full color in a newspaper or magazine. It blew me away! He-Man realized as a real person and Skeletor?! It was incredible and I poured over every detail.
I took that newspaper or magazine page with me every time we went to a store that sold toys because I’d always get my parents to ask if they had the figure for the weird armored reptilian guy in the bottom left. I didn’t even know it would be a figure and just assumed and after several months of nothing I, to my surprise, got my Saurod toy! All because Drew Struzan included a tiny bit role in the end with a interesting design to a poster.
    RIP Mr. Struzan. A legend.

  2. Struzan was a legend. Fate had him born at the perfect time when there was such an abundance of new franchises. He masterfully rode that wave to celebrity status.
My favorite Drew Struzan poster isn’t a franchise poster though. It was his Sahara posters with the gorgeous Brooke Shields. They are stunners.
