“(He) was like a True Dad to me.” Teela actress CAMILA MENDES talks Idris Elba, Alison Brie and More!

“Masters of the Universe” Teela actress Camila Mendes attended the premiere of the HBO Max series “IT: Welcome to Derry” a few days ago to support her boyfriend actor Rudy Mancuso.

On the red carpet, naturally the press asked her questions about her role as Teela in the upcoming “Masters of the Universe” Movie, and here is what she had to say per an interview with Screen Rant:

On working along side Idris Elba (who was cast as Man-At-Arms):

"Idris Elba, who plays my dad in the film, was like a true dad to me. We got so close, and I love him so much."

On actors Nicholas Galitzine (Prince Adam / He-Man) and Alison Brie (Evil-Lyn):

"Nicholas Galitzine is incredible as He-Man." "And Alison Brie is incredible as Evil-Lyn. She's such a good villain and hits the perfect comedic tone. Yeah, people are going to love it, I think."

On the movie’s script:

"I think one of the things I admire most about the film, and that I was so pleasantly surprised by when I read the script, is that it had the perfect balance of comedy and heart. It wasn't a movie that was completely making fun of itself the whole time, but it has a good sense of humor."

On being proud of “Masters of the Universe”:

"I'm really, really proud of what we did. It's so hard to walk away from these movies because so much is going to be done in post that you're like, "How do I assess what we just walked away from?" But I just have a feeling about this one. I could be completely wrong, but I think it's very special."

The “Masters of the Universe” Movie is currently in Post-Production with the film scheduled to be released in cinemas worldwide on June 5th, 2026.
