@smitty-81 I think they use body doubles first to make sure they know what they are doing before the real stars show up.

I love the 87 movie dude. Lundgren was perfect as He-Man. Langella added the right amount of ham. Foster was perfect casting and Lubic was the man. The only complaint I have is Saurod died too soon.

I still make it a point to watch Masters of the Universe every year on its anniversary in August!

It improves with age. With all the crap movies that comes out now the 87 flick looks better and better.

Not even considering the budget it had to work with, and the massive expectations, on top of the hellish production that was constantly under scrutiny, the '87 film is just plain fun.

It is the epitome of 80s sci-fi / fantasy that uses whimsical practical effects, lots of humor (both intentional and not) and a masterful performance by Frank Langella.

@gatorrob I agree. It looks like there are stand-ins, for blocking purposes, and to get the lighting correct. Definitely not actual cast members in costume 🙂
