Many indigenous Native American tribes have strong prohibitions against speaking ill of the dead. I think that's wise. I understand the anger and disappointment about he-man.org's closing. But in the vast expanse of time the he-man.org site brought many of us boundless pleasure in its ability to let us interact with each other. It's also good to remember that Val was there during the dark years when there were no MOTU series on the air and the fan base had shrunk. But I think Mattel and broadcasters saw the rabidly loyal fanbase on he-man.org and took note of it. I prefer to focus on the positive and Val's many -- really countless -- contributions. I wish him the best for all that he did for fandom.
🙂
There's been an update!

Looks nice though. Same text as before I think.
Where to start? Twelve years of my life poured into this virtual place. Sharing my enthusiasm with He-Man fans, the excitement of searching for any news related to our beloved and revitalized Motu Classics brand, still unsurpassed to this day. So many sections of the forum were at the disposal of the enthusiasts to find out as much as technically possible about the Motu lore. The marketplace (such great deals to acquire, and I did!) The Roast Gooble Diner podcast ... Thanks for these precious years!
Haven't seen or heard a peep from Val since the Org went down.
We have the Power!
Yeah, unfortunately Instagram resized the second image! Here's the text:
The most powerful He-Man fan site in the universe is back!
As many of you know, He-Man.Org closed down in late 2023. The site, which was founded in 1997, grew into a huge juggernaut over the years, accumulating hundreds of thousands of images, thousands of news posts, and probably tens of thousands of forum threads. Eventually it simply became too big and too expensive to keep hosting in its existing format.
At the time the Org was shutting down, Val Staples (the site’s owner) reached out to me to see if I would be willing to take over managing the site. Neither of us wanted to see it go away forever!
I agreed that I would take over running the Org. However it wasn’t possible to just resurrect the old site - it would have to be rebuilt. For the last several months, my friends Jukka Issakainen, Ben Massa and I have been working to recreate different sections of the original site. Here is our philosophy:
- Rebuild the most important resources of the old site (primarily focused on toy collection sections, scans of comics, books and magazines, and archives of prototype images)
- Reuse the best images from the original site
- Get all new scans and pictures to replace the low res images from the original site (many of which were decades old!)
- Try to give the new Org some of the look and feel of the original
We are really just getting started, and it will take some time to fully build out He-Man.Org. The site is “under construction” but please feel free to explore what we have created so far! You can check back on my social media pages for announcements of updates to the site as we continue to work on things.
One thing that’s slightly different this time is that everything is sorted by era (Vintage MOTU, POP, New Adventures, 200x, Classics, etc). So for example, MOTU comics from the vintage era will be in the Vintage MOTU section. There isn’t a single “Print Media” section like in the old days. If you want 200x comics, go to the 200x section!
You’re probably wanting to ask, what about the forums side of the Org? When is that coming back? We’re not yet sure if we will bring the forums back. I remember the forums fondly just like many of you, but toward the end of the original site, not many people were posting. Most had moved on to social media. Personally I prefer forums to social media, but I’m not sure that the genie can be put back in the bottle.
In any case, the added level of complexity and management required for forums is not something we really have time to handle right now. We’re going to be pretty busy rebuilding the resource side of things. But I will create a He-Man.org Facebook group in the meantime for discussion and feedback on the revamped site.
We hope you enjoy He-Man.org! Please be patient as we continue to update it with new resources and sections. We will also be reaching out to the community for help. If you have the ability to scan and share MOTU and POP comics, books, and magazines from any era, please let us know!

A pleasant surprise! It will never be the same. It has been too long and the way people interact has changed but we the old timers will appreciate it.
I get his point about forums, part of the reason I don't come here often is because of so little activity in some corners I'm interested in. I'm also on socials a lot. Still, as long as the databases are packed with content it's return is most welcome, we need more 'Man
At this point, it's akin to attempting to reconcile with an ex who has done so without any justification.
I'll be happy to have the resources back, if nothing else. Glad to see this!
Hmmmm.
HMMM.
Lots of feelings here. I'm very, very glad to hear at least that Val reached out to trusted friends when he made the decision to end the original community and that there has been some kind of discussion happening behind-the-scenes. If that's what was going down this whole time and it simply was kept under wraps, that's a better feeling than the abrupt "It's over, BYE, no questions" vibe we got when the Org first shuttered.
BUT!
The forums are essential to resurrecting what the site was. From people's first reactions when 200X episodes aired, to lengthy discussions about rare POP and MOTU items that only happened because people from around the world convened in one place to investigate and share information...that's the stuff that really needs to be preserved. And that all happened Monday-Sunday, 24/7 for two decades. I miss rereading those older posts, especially when I take a sudden interest in a part of the franchise I previously knew nothing about.
As much as traffic had surely decreased on the message boards when the Org closed, there was something very welcoming about them, and knowing that you could look back at fanart and conversations with creators from 15+ years prior to see where the fandom's concerns or excitement were coming from.
Nice as it is to have a comprehensive resource for He-Man on the internet, the Org was more than that...because of the conversations.
I fear that whatever curating is being done now with the old site and it's materials will largely sidestep interesting information shared in conversations that will be deemed less vital to the resource side of the new Org. I fear a LOT of She-Ra stuff will fall through the cracks. A lot of it was discussed in the message boards. Pictures of playsets and coloring books and cardbacks are nice and all, but there was a lot more to discover and learn through the conversations.
Bottom line, I would like to see the entirety of the classic forums online again as a Read Only type experience at least. Then there can be the current "Active" forums for the fresh start.
...but it will be tricky to bring people back from what happened. Val suddenly told everyone he was closing up and to go home. I think a lot of people have dispersed to other sites since (like here) and some just felt thrown out and aren't likely to return with the same enthusiasm.
...yeah. It's strange how uneasy I feel about this. I want to be happy but...what will the existence of this new Org do to sites like this one, or HemanWorld? Are people expected to jump ship and go back to something that could once again shut them out?
Interesting news.
Without the forums, meeeh.
The forums were he-man.org.
Good convos, reactions to news, thoughts on new and old MOTU stuff, buying/selling/trading with trusted fellow fans.
I’d love the forums to come back with all the old history and everyone’s user profiles, etc.
Probably a pipe dream.
Glad to have these forums, but they just aren’t as lively as the ole .org.
