We have the Power!
Love it! Looks like a classic story, in a classic MOTU world. Drawn with so much love for the subject matter and world. Looking forward to it.
Real talk: Dark Horse have had the MOTU license for like what? 4 or 5 years by now? In that time, they have yet to start a real main ongoing MOTU comic series in a new universe/new take, only 4-issue mini-series that are mostly set in the timeline of Revelation/Revolution universe and also Turtles of Grayskull.
Was never really a comic kid growing up, as in individual issues and not collected volumes, aside from the random out of context Archie Sonic here and there.
Then more than a year ago, I kept hearing on and on about how the new Skybound Transformers was peak fiction. I decided to give it a go because it was a whole new series and not IDW where I have to read like a billion issues. A real fresh start, a new yet familiar take in a series is all I need and after reading the first volume of six issues.....yeah I was hooked and from then on have collected each issue every month and have even read the collected volumes of the Energon Universe, Duke, Cobra Commander and two volumes of Void Rivals (great original sci-fi comic that uses the Transformers characters as a hook, but not a distraction). All good despite me not being a Joe fan.
From then on I recently collected the Masterverse and Revolution prequel mini-series, which I liked. Revolution in particular because I love me some Hordak, but I was legit really expecting them to actually show an unmasked Despara/Adora, I mean this is a comic, not a show, one of the covers even shows the question of "Who is Despara?" and color me disappointed when the mini-series just ends with Hordak and Skeletor about to steal baby Adora (they don't even say her name) in the royal palace then it just cuts to present day with Despara.
I'm curious and will probably look into this new mini-series separate from Revelation/Revolution/Turtles, it's own thing, but I really feel like with the swarm of potential new fans coming in next year because of the movie......MOTU needs it's own main ongoing series. It's own Skybound Transformers in terms of quality, you gettin' me?

Dark Horse currently favors the mini-series format. Hard to say exactly why... I've heard folks say that it performs better when its a limited short run. Or for trade paperback reasons... could be a combination of many reasons. Similar how Netflix accordingly crunched their numbers and data and determined that Season 2 (Revolution) works better with five episode order. Not six or seven.

To be fair, from what Seeley has said; this miniseries is set in that pseudo-vintage continuity. Inside which also the Thundercats crossover, Injustice and TMNT crossovers belong. They don't necessarily acknowledge each other in their respective series (Closest being that in the Injustice one they had a quick mention to the Thundercats crossover).
I'm excited for a MOTU comic miniseries that isn't a crossover with another IP. And using character designs that look like their classic, recognizable themselves. With high adventure, that can have big stakes. But not always in the sense of "oh no Grayskull blown up yet again! All of Universe and existence in peril once again!" 🤣
And yeah, I agree it would be just wonderful to have an ongoing MOTU comic. We were very lucky back in 2012-2016 with Mattel making their comics through DC. Even if there were the couple times it almost got cancelled, as I later learned. 😋
Let MOTU flourish with its own stories, once and for all. Eternia is brimming with riches and mysteries: its charismatic citizens with eccentric appearances, its magical relics and its ancient curses. In short, the myth is inexhaustible. The comic book series of the last decade has proven to be memorable for its entertainment value. Unfortunately, these moments of elation are generally far too brief.
I'm looking forward to this limited series, too. It's like a breath of fresh air not having it cross over with yet another IP.
