An ongoing "Masters of the Universe" comic series is coming! Masters of the Universe fans have been chomping at the bit for an ongoing monthly He-Man comic book series since the days when MOTU was licensed to DC. And now, it's finally happening in 2026 when Dark Horse Comics expands their miniseries "Masters of the Universe: The Sword of Flaws" into a monthly ongoing series titled "He-Man and the Masters of the Universe." According to a report from IGN, the title change will take effect after the four issue limited series "The Sword of Flaws" is finished, so there won't…

Holy Moly Batman! The only disappointment here is there is no first issue to collect.
My interest has been piqued again. Apparently, there are no crossovers or undigestible graphic styles on the menu so far. With all the ingredients that make Eternia exciting story-wise, things are looking good.
Nice. I was hoping for a follow up to Revolution but a new continuity will be fun too.

It’s about damn time! I’ve gotten more into collecting comics ever since I started keeping up and loving Skybound Transformers.
for MOTU I’ve read the Masterverse, Turtles of Grayskull and Revolution prequel mini-series and am also keeping up with the Sword of Flaws.
With Skybound Ttansformers I was glad I could quickly start and catch up to speed with this brand new continuity under a brand new publisher that everyone is loving.
its not like Marvel or DC where if you want to get into a character from one of the movies or games and want to read their comics you’re like “okay, where?” Because there’s like a billion different options and series? Extremely hard to choose.
contrast that with a non-comic, (or at least in the case of Transformers and MOTU, were never intended to be) comic originated franchises, where there’s way less options and that’s a good thing if the writing is good.
hoping this MOTU comic series starts off strong.
Sorry, but not having a #1 issue is stupid. Dark horse will miss out on sales without a #1 issue. Comic people buy multiple copies of #1 issues with the hope it will go up in value. That is a big dumb missed opportunity for MotU.
Rant over. To this news I say

Wow! Reilly Brown is a great artist, and that first , or #5 cover, looks STELLAR! Love seeing classic takes on the characters, drawn in a more modern way, with Reilly’s classic comic-book chops!
The only thing I’m slightly concerned with an ongoing is, just for me personally, is at some point it will start changing all the designs, deviating from the Eternia we know… yeah, yeah, growth yada yada,… I just rather would focus on developing stories *within* the constraints of the classic Eternian world, instead of redesigning costumes every other issue (old man rant over).
We’ll see how it’ll go! I do like what Seely is doing, generally. It’s good news for the MOTU world, for sure!
Reilly Brown is a very talented artist. I'm looking forward to seeing his issues.
I especially like the artwork on that second cover. I'm glad we've finally gotten to a point where practically everybody can agree on the art, pretty damn important for sales that... anyway, I'll see what the previous four issues are like now that I know it gets better.
I am so excited for this. I was recently going through my old comics looking for all my He-Man ones. Now I have more to add to my collection.
It’s called Masters if the Universe, and that’s great 😜
I was just thinking, what the heck is this “Phantoms of Despair” Comic that R. Brown worked on, (title sounds really cool!) with a bit of googling I realized it’s the Despara Mini-Comic, ofc! Which is actually called “Phantoms of Despara” 😀
But now I do want a story called “Phantoms of Despair!”
Brilliant! While I would prefer a fresh start with the entire creative team, Tim Seeley knows his MOTU and artist Reilly Brown is a better fit. I'm optimistic, but I do share the same concern others may have without a #1 and clear jumping on point. Late comers will search for the first four issues on eBay and will leave more lost than when they started.
@admin Are the movie comics still coming mate or is this what your source was referring to?

Why does the cover say Masters of the Universe when it is supposed to be He-Man and the Masters of the Universe?

I am not certain what is going on there. IGN reported it as "He-Man and the Masters of the Universe" multiple times but as you noticed the comic cover clearly says "Masters of the Universe". I assume IGN has it wrong but I guess we'll see. 🙂

They are still coming. 😊

Great news. I don't really collect individual issues of comics, but I'm always happy to buy the Volume editions. Always loved the MOTU comics as well so here's hoping the Dark Horse series lasts a long while.
This is what the MOTU universe needs to stay alive and healthy, gaining new fans.
Bring it on!
Not that I hate the DC run or anything, but I am really excited to see where Dark Horse takes MOTU!
I was secretly hoping for some MOTU books as part of IDW's Saturday Morning Adventures series... but this is a nice consolation.
