Accurate or not to the series I am sure there is marketing research behind Cringer's colour change. The brighter green makes him more appealing to mass audiences.

I feel there’s always some influence of the toy designs on these, even though it’s supposed to be cartoon accurate, they’re also Origins.
Omigod that has to be the most adorable toy Mattel has ever made. If Mattel would make a plush Cringer like that I swear it would be in my bed. 😘

On the package backs it reads Mattel is both modernizing and celebrating the cartoon. That mission statement can become an opposing force when the show is fourty years old.

Oh wow Cringer is so amazing! Thank you for sharing your review with the community. Seeing Cringer in this review makes me want to order more than one so I can display both heads at the same time.
