@thenate @sketchyskeletor

Thanks for the 'heads up' guys! 'Discovering Panda' actually tagged He-Mania in those posts but I'm clearly a slower writer than Michael at Toy Habits. 😄

That Gold Skeletor has some similarities to the Masterverse Alcala-head Skeletor that came with his Bone Throne… but of course also calls back to the infamous Disco Skeletor… Self-reference ad infinitum !

Based on the backside of the package, this seems like an Exclusive. That’s how they did / do all the Origins Exclusives.

Interesting. I hope, and honestly expect, we’ll see a lot more stuff still.

Apparently the Mattel rep at NYTF said the "red Masters" in the franchise logo indicates movie merch, both this and the leaked Core Skeletor from earlier have Masters in black and gold

Now, that is one tall-looking Scareglow. In the photo he seems to be bigger than his Masterverse equivalent 🙃

Perhaps that’s the reason these things are already popping up so much earlier– they are not part of the movie line.

Thrilled he scales well with Masterverse, but does that mean Chronicles is two different scales?

I would think Pixel Dan would be accurately size Chronicles movie figures by eye. And he said the movie figures are smaller…

Maybe non-movie figures are Masterverse scale?  That’d be weird, but I’ll take it!

That's the way to go, Mattel! Just rename your toy line as many times as you want, as long as the scale and character selection maintain their own trajectories, without the infamous reboots you're known for rushing into at the first opportunity.

This Gold Skeletor figure seems legit, which means there are huge implications for both Chronicles and the Kids Core line moving forward.

Mattel is releasing "standard" MOTU characters in this new style which means Origins will most likely be coming to an end (or, 'paused') - sooner rather than later. I just can't see Mattel making Chronicles and Kids Core alongside Origins if Kids Core is already inserting non-movie characters into the line.

After seeing this Scareglow next to his Masterverse counterpart, I went and watched the videos of the actors opening their Chronicles figures, as well as, the guy giving the Toy Fair booth tour and Pixel Dan’s Chronicles unboxing, and I think these figures ARE in Masterverse scale.

I don’t know why Dan and others were saying they are smaller.  For as many figures that Dan reviews and writes books on, I assumed he could correctly gauge the sizing of these new figures. I think maybe not…

Mattel is kinda dumb for not just saying they are the same scale with new articulation.  Instead, they tell us MV is paused.  Read the room, Mattel!!

My He-fan side is glad they are in the same scale, but my wallet’s not!

Honestly, how would we know the difference? They'd just dump 'exclusives' all round the place like they normally do. 200x hasn't long left anyway since they've released the waves so quickly.

"WHAT'S IN A NAME? Part Two" Several industry professionals have reached out to us indicating "Core" is an industry term and classification. The Kids is the "Core" line and Chronicles is the "Collector" line. Would Mattel name the Core line Core, essentially being Core: Core? We honestly don't know, but the saga continues!

First Ones. Kids. Core. Kid-Focused. These figures have been called it all by both Mattel and official retail listings with "Kid-Focused" as recent as last week by Mattel. Until Mattel unifies their messaging across the board from Mattel to Retailers, we may be using multiple names so readers are always on the same page. 🙂

@admin My theory is that they're insisting on "Core" because they couldn't fully secure permission from Universal to use the "First Ones" name from SPOP

Clearly the core line was called First Ones and then Mattel dropped the name and never bothered to give it a new one.

@mighty-thanos Sounds right. Who cares. We can name it anything we want if Mattel won't.

Based on my first impressions and looking at photos closely, I was also sure they were in MV scale. But then info made the round that they are definitely smaller, so I gave up on figuring it out.

To be fair, I think Mattel itself said 1:12 about Chronicles, which implies it’s smaller than 7in, though there’s always room for interpretation, making these figures “heroic” size etc

One other thing I could imagine is, that these movie figs are in scale to MV, but slightly smaller, to be more accurate to actor’s real size. A little similar to Hasbro’s Star Wars figures.

So both could be true: they are in scale to MV, but also slightly smaller.

Hmmm... it's disappointing that these are not compatible with the Origins figures. I like the idea behind this Skeletor, and the sculpt is pretty darn cool.

However, they will certainly be a much smaller scale that just looks out of place with the rest of the beefier Origins. I wish these were just a tad bigger and included the parts-swapping... but for 10 bucks, I imagine Mattel is trying to get a younger audience interested in MOTU, and the moms of the world will breathe easier when comparing prices in the toy aisle.

I'm wondering if Mattel will use this buck for more of their wrestling figures. The musculature looks great, but it isn't over-exaggerated like typical MOTU bodies...

TRI-KLOPS VISOR STUCK OR DOES NOT ROTATE? Unless they received a defective/stuck figure to review, the visor on the New Masters of the Universe "Chronicles" Movie Tri-Klops figure does not turn (even though we believed the packaging suggested otherwise) and his belt is glued to his body, per an early review by Pop Heist. (At least the Kids/First Ones/Core Movie He-Man can shed his armor.) Be sure to check out their full review at PopHeist.com!

Hmmm, unless that's an initial batch 'thing' to be fixed it otherwise sounds like he wasn't truly finished before he got the production greenlight.

You would think review copies would be checked by Mattel quality control.

I have a faint memory this happened to a classics Tri-Klops once.

The visor was really hard to turn on the Revelations MV Tri-Klops. I seem to remember it was on the Origins, too. This is just the natural evolution.

But seriously, while the visor is a big miss, I remember the wristbands were glued to the arms in the early MV figures, later I believe they figured it out and you could remove them. Now Origins has removable skirts (First Ones apparently, too), and wristbands,…and more. MV had made a good evolution , too.

I just wish they would’ve worked out the kinks before production.

That Tri-Klops looks a bit scrawny, too…

You mean they would open them, check each one, and the re-seal?
