π
Now is the right time to announce the price, Mondo, so anyone who is currently interested in them can make a final decision. Thank you!
MAA and Skeletor sculpts look phenomenal! Digging almost the entirety of Clawful. The sculpt, the paint apps, the details. His head sculpt in particular is utter perfection. Looks like he walked right off the screen. My only current worry is that his legs have no articulation/knee bend. He does seem to have articulation in his feet, so perhaps its just the knee that has no bend? Time will tell, perhaps I'm just missing it or maybe he's just that heavy. I'll keep a pulse on the Mondo news as usual and report back if I find confirmation.
Also looks like He-Man is getting an extra head, the one he has on right now is identical to the 200x action figure release!
@onlyoneskeletor Typically, Mondo doesn't show off the price of the figures until much closer to the release date. AJ didn't mention it in his post, but as per the cards on the figures, Clawful and He-Man will be available in Sept 2025 and MAA and Skeletor in Nov 2025. As per what Mondo has said before the tariffs, they will be cheaper than the RGB figure line. I'm expecting $80-$120 USD per figure myself. Really hope the price is right so we can get more than 4 figures per year. I want them to pump this line out FAST.
@smokinya I've watched a few YouTube videos of people interviewing Hector, and in one of them he said that they're expecting a maximum of two to three waves per year. The third wave could be introduced as a special convention item. As for the price, I hope your estimation is correct because it will definitely be a major factor in my ability to take the leap of faith. They're planning to unveil a fifth character during the panel. Who do you think it could be? My gut feeling is that they're picking another villain...

I'll have to take a look at YouTube and see what I can find. Hopefully, it ends up being more than that eventually. The 1/6 scale line had a slower release schedule until it blew up and opened the flood gates a bit. Starting with 2-3 waves per year makes sense, but I could easily see them releasing more figures per year. For example, someone like The Goddess or Faker being released as a limited exclusive for the 200x line like they were for the 1/6 scale line.Β
The absolute max I could see them charging for the figures is $150, but that seems unlikely. They did cite licensing costs being the main reason why the RGB figures cost as much as they do. Since they have a long partnership with Mattel I don't think that they would be getting hosed on that side of things. They will need to be a decent amount pricier than what Mattel is doing to ensure they don't have overlapping competition. My final guess is that He-Man is $90 and Clawful is $110. With a bundle being offered for both figures for $180.Β
As for who is going to be revealed I think you're right in saying it will be a villain (Mondo seems to favor them, much like myself). I have a few different guesses: Safe guess: I'm going to go with Tri-Klops. I will also double down on Tri-Klops and say that if he doesn't get a 200x reveal, he's getting a 1/6th reveal at the panel. Crazy guess: Webstor or Moss Man. Peter has been dying to do Webstor for a very long time and he has cited the 200x rendition being his absolute favorite and talked about how much he loves the staction from Neca. Moss Man has also been another popular request amongst the Mondo Toy Talks and he is a deep cut hero that the Mondo team hasn't tackled before, but they've been wanting to.Β
Β
@smokinya Oh man, do you know what would be ironic to me? It's that each of their figures is priced similarly to their 1/6 scale figures from 2015, which would reawaken a trauma for me (lol). All jokes aside, I'd be up for Webstor, especially if that paved the way for his oversized, spider-like monster form at the first convention following his release (wishful thinking).
@onlyoneskeletor If the 200x figures did come in with that price point it would cause me to seriously stop and think hard about what I'm going to do. I'd likely have to stop with 1/6 scale and go in on 200x instead. Don't have the space to do it all and its a lot of money to spend on display pieces (especially since Tweeterheads Legends line is popping off hard lol). However, I seen a rumor on Pixel Dan's YouTube video comments that apparently they're going to cost $69-$79 USD a figure. He said that a friend of his that works at Mondo told him about this last week and apparently they're concerned over this price point. He did say that its just a rumor and its also a random strangers comment on the internet, but it does bode well if the price is that low. I think most people would be very happy with that. Its only about $30ish more than a Masterverse deluxe figure at that point.
If any company were to do that for Webstor, it would be Mondo. They're huge fans, Peter especially loves 200x and Emiliano who does the designs for Mondo is the godfather of 200x in the first place. If this line sells well I have huge hopes for its future. So many great designs from that show that never seen the light of day in figure form and Mattel will probably never do the series justice.Β
@smokinya Seeing that you mentioned the Goddess in a previous post reminded me how much I'd love to see the entire Motu universe incorporated into this brand new toy line. First, we should focus on the legitimate characters, while also incorporating a few new references from other Motu iterations (NA, POP, etc.). A popular fan of the franchise is known for designing a tremendous number of Motu characters in the "MYP style". His name is Gbagok and he edited a few MotUC Classics bios at the end of the brand with my friend Daniel Gelehrter. Here is a a first illustration:

@onlyoneskeletor I've seen a few of these online before! I think that would be an excellent idea as long as the line is able to find its footing. I really, really hope that people are happy with the price point because I don't think I've ever wanted a line to succeed as hard since the original 200x line from back in the day. Ideally, I'd like to go through the TV show characters first and then branch out into more of the vintage line figures. Jitsu, Ninjor, Clamp Champ, etc. Funny enough I never watched the NA cartoon before. It is probably the only piece of MOTU that I've never interacted with despite enjoying the villain designs a lot.
I'd also love to see what Mondo could do with a playset. Ever since I was a kid I've wanted a 200x Snake Mountain playset. I do think that a project like that would have to be crowdfunded before they spent any development time on it other than concepting. I could easily see it costing around the same as the Super 7 Snake Mountain did. Somewhere in the $700-$900 range. Which I don't think is THAT far out considering the Scare Glow/Scare-Mare and likely the upcoming She-Ra/Swift Wind bundle will end up costing that amount anyways. Hopefully that gets realized one of these days.Β
Wasnβt there a thread for the 1:12 Mondo line a while ago?
I think itβs time it gets resurrected.
These are very impressive, really fun to see. They will be probably beyond my price point, even though they will be worth every penny.
Also, not to be a stickler, but Masterverse Deluxe figures like Snout Spout are only $33, (The new Walmart MV releases are still $22). But all in all that seemsΒ fair nevertheless.
If did make the leap, Iβd probably be concerned of price increases once people are hookedβ¦
These are tremendous figures. Among the best MOTU ever made. Iβm probably just rationalizing missing out on them. π Β
@cosmic I'm not sure if there was a stickied thread for it or not, we were talking about all things Mondo in the 1/6th thread. Regarding the Masterverse prices: since I'm Canadian its all more expensive, so I compare it with my price which is probably confusing to anyone in the US and also stupid for me to be doing lol
@onlyoneskeletor I was right about Tri-Klops!!! 1/6th figure was revealed during the panel. The new 1/12th figure reveal is Merman. Definitely a safer pick, but we were right about it being a villain.Β
@admin here is the link that has some photos of the Mondo panel. Merman is photo 1 and Tri-Klops is photo 9
@smokinya I get that, I have the opposite when I talk to the community in Germany, I always assume prices like USA and say, it's pretty affordable, Β and they're like, nah here's it's always more. Always defend the prices because affordability is a big factor for me, being disabled on a budgetβ¦
Here's one of the threads I found when the Mondo 1:12 was announced:
Another one is here, a follow-up:
@admin Should there be a dedicated Mondo 1:12 thread now, or should it be all in one Mondo thread? Currently, that thread is called "1:6 Mondo" etc
@cosmic I do hope that the line is the cheapest it can possibly be. I want as many people to be able to become invested in the line as possible to give it some longevity. I would hate to have it end prematurely like the original 200x run did.Β
If we're taking votes @admin I think we should change the 1/6 line to just Mondo MOTU in general. We've been talking about both there in the comments anyways.Β

Here they are. As I mentioned on the dedicated thread, I have never liked the design of Mer-Man's face (at least for this specific cartoon). It makes him look incredibly stupid, which undermines the natural appeal he has as a vintage figure. Regarding Tri-Klops, you probably won't disagree with me as he's clearly inspired by the aforementioned cartoon. In another booth in the same place, a certain 'Mattel' is displaying a spectacular range of 6-inch figures (which I might very well end up cherry-picking...). I wonder if there's a special anniversary date that I'm not aware of (lol).
Β
That thread has been takin over by masterverse talk, (its the new classics talk) so when the 1/12 line actually hits it will be worse. So i do think mondo needs 2 threads now.
@banthafett @admin admittedly the Masterverse talk in the Mondo thread is my doing. I think that the 1/12 line has sparked a lot of comparison between the two lines and while the initial discussion started off more closely related to Mondo, it has been a bit derailed since then. I'll try to ensure that I'm keeping the chatter down for that in the main thread and then if it all gets too convoluted we can always ask AJ to split the thread back up for us.Β
@onlyoneskeletor I'm a big fan of Mer-Man's design in 200x, but again it was the series I grew up on so I do have a biased opinion on the matter. I think that the show occasionally did a great job of showcasing his more menacing features, but the series also had a lot of the villains acting like goofballs which probably has an influence on his overall design (even from a cognitive standpoint). It looks like his 4th head is directly inspired from the cartoon where the others take a more scaled back/serious approach.Β
Regarding, Tri-Klops I'm a big fan of his design. It looks like the bottom half of the figure takes more inspiration from the 200x design whereas the top half seems more inspired by the vintage design. His 200x appearance also has a similar top half to the vintage design barring the piping that comes out from his neck. Plus his head sculpt is straight vintage. I really hope we can turn the eyes around on the figure like we can for Man-E-Faces. But as I've said in the past, part of the reason why I love the 1/6th line is because it takes so much inspiration from 200x and really melds the vintage/200x appearances while adding a splash of something new.Β
The 200x line by Mattel is interesting. I think some characters look great (Ram Man, Beast Man, Roboto, Tri-Klops) while others like Clawful look absolutely awful. Definitely going to stick with the Mondo line myself, but I think this new cartoon collection has a lot of potential.Β
@smokinya Well, for someone who had sworn to himself to get over the Clark Kent syndrome β meaning Adam in this specific example β I just couldn't care less about all the Origins-related figures. Until now! The son of Randor makes me the biggest liar of the year, as I'm dangerously close to buying him to display in a battle scene with both MotUC and Masterverse figures.
@onlyoneskeletor To be fair though, Price Adam from 200x is A LOT different than the Price Adam from the Filmation series. He has a noticeably smaller frame and a much more unique outfit. Just use that justification for the purchase LOL.Β
I could see Mondo doing the 200x Prince Adam as a con exclusive, but personally I feel they should release Adam in a 2-pack with Orko. I don't think an Orko at this scale needs his own unique figure and I would like a 200x Orko to be to scale like the 1/6 one. The 6 inch Orko we got in the original run looks very out of place with the other figures IMO.Β
