We have the Power!
Did Anti-Eternia He-Man appear in 200x because I don't remember seeing him.
Yup, just like that he's sold out. Probably for the best since I was considering picking him up. Better to save the money for new characters instead of variants.
@grantlok He didn't. Now, after the impressive New Eternia reinterpretion of him I'm basically done with chasing him as a collector piece.
I thought so. Thanks.
By the way, do you think Mondo would be tempted to pursue that option? Like Mattel did with their He-Man and Skeletor armies back in the day? I'm not sure how I would feel about that.Yup, just like that he's sold out. Probably for the best since I was considering picking him up. @onlyoneskeletor I don't think Mondo would go the route of creating armies of the same figure in the same year. If we look at She-Ra, Skeletor and He-Man they included multiple accessories to change them into alternative variants (Dragon Blaster, Battle Armor, etc.). Now they have gotten into variants before like the mini-comic colored and Filmation variant Trap Jaw. They also recently spoke about potentially doing a blue version of Mer-Man for the 1/6th line as a possibility, but I don't think they'd pull a 200x Mattel and try to sell 10 different He-Man and Skeletor figures while neglecting other characters.
The variants do tend to sell well, but typically Mondo only does 1-2 per year as an exclusive. It hasn't hindered their ability to make new figures or reduced their frequency. But if you can repaint an old figure and sell it you do make more money than trying to tool an entirely new character since you save on design cost.
At this price point I think they'd be silly to try and sell multiple variants a year while reducing the amount of new characters that they're releasing. So far it seems like the 1/6th line has 1 variant per year with one big ticket item (mount/vehicle). I think that'll hold this year as well. Flocked Panther will fill the big ticket slot and I'm unsure what the variant will be. I do have a sneaking suspicion that we're going to get a 1/12th scale Battle Cat teased this year though for a 2027 release. Just a gut feeling.
