Thanks to TOY FAIR 2026, we have our best look yet at the Movie Costume for Mekaneck! Captured in figure form on the packaging for the Masters of the Universe Movie "First Ones/Core" Skel-Knight action figure... ...the awesome Retro Toy Escapades on Facebook got their hands on a photo of the cardback which reveals the heroic human periscope in all his glory. Prior to this, Mekaneck was only partially revealed in a blink or you'll miss it portion of the trailer... ...but now we can visualize the whole costume and we like it. Yikes…. Really don’t like the look of that one bit. Then again, every Mekaneck other than the 200x one has always looked dorky to me.
What did they do to my favorite heroic character from Eternia? I mean, have they even started to work on this design ?!?
Hm… I can recognize the elements that they have taken from the original design, but it feels way too toned down… and just a puny gun?
He looks more like a GI Joe character on earth. Maybe that’s where he’ll be from 😏
His aesthetic was always a little weird to me even for MOTU's heroes, so I quite like this version! But yeah he's essentially Scrap Iron from GI Joe.
His costume is stripped down like Filmation even more so. There is plenty of silver missing, especially in the boots. He could use some black trunks. Still, it is unmistakably Mekaneck.
Other than the goggles, I'm not feeling this costume.
It's strange how close some of the characters, like Trap-Jaw, resemble the vintage source and then others like Mekaneck simply do not.
He looks like a side character from the Tick TV show.

Not bad, but Mekaneck had an iconic triangular shape to his helmet that we've seemed to have lost.
