Fans have been wondering since the rumors began about a possible 1:12 scale (possibly 6 inch) "Chronicles" action figure line... ...what would the future hold for the 7 Inch "Masterverse" figure line that launched in 2021 with the Netflix Animated Series "Masters of the Universe: Revelation". Well now Mattel has sent HEMANIA.COM their official stance on the matter, which we can quote: "While there are still Masterverse action figures in the pipeline for 2026, we will be transitioning our core offering to Chronicles later this year. We will, however, also have a number of special releases planned within the Masterverse…
We have the Power!
Mattel is seriously dropping the ball here and I feel so bad for anyone who got in on Masterverse. Especially since they were hitting their stride with some standout figures (Moss Man for example).
There is zero reason to be cancelling Masterverse and launching ANOTHER new line. New Eternia still has a lot of life left in it and the Vintage collection scale up had potential too. Slow rolling the completion of Origins is also a massive misstep by them.
I don't think this Chronicle line is going to have the juice that they're hoping for. I have a feeling they'll be crawling back to Masterverse before they know it.
I hope they will release King Adam and Queen Teela from Revolution (or at least implied from Revolution). I do wonder what Vintage Collections they still want to release
Vintage Collection is alright but Mattel killing New Eternia will be a damn shame.
New Eternia became my all time favorite figure. It's going to be a sad day when it ends.
Not sure what to make of that. The Vintage Collection line is the one that excites me the least because with exceptions like Faker or Stratos the New Eternia seems to have met that need on its own. I’d prefer more Revelation/Revolution myself along with the new movie line. New figures in different styles. As far as Origins go, Blade is the only one i really care about that is left. Of course I will buy all of them that release.
Oh man those damn movie figures. We were so damn close to getting a Teela next or a Man-At-Arms. If Mattel starts over again they'll start with a He-Man and Skeletor. DAMN
Toy Habits reported on this some months ago so it shouldn't come as a shock. Also the messaging doesn't offer it as a definitive end as another site was suggesting so things still seem hopeful for more Masterverse in the future.
I don't see Chronicles doing anything other than movie figures which naturally would be their core focus right now to support the movie. There's also the other line they haven't officially announced yet that's more in scale with Origins but movie focused and aimed for all ages that seemingly is planned for at least 3 waves.

I agree. Chronicles will fulfill a need with the movie figures, but when it runs its course Mattel will try to expand. When they try we won't have the motivation and we won't have the shelf space to start all over again.
Seems like a lot of corporate talk for quietly cancelling the line.
Mattel, I’m not starting a new scale. A shame, too, because the new movie figs look good. They would have fit in well as a Masterverse subset.

TH said it was a rebrand from memory. That's all that was needed for bricks and mortar. If Chronicles is actually the same scale they just need to say so. As is they had to be hounded only to give people hope and put them right back at square one!
The endless uncertainty with Mattel is why nobody buys in anymore. Everybody I know skipped the crossovers (except TMNT), cherry picked Filmation and have completely ignored 200x. They dumped Masterverse months ago for all the needless shit involved.
Mattel simply had to rebrand Masterverse as Chronicles and pep it up with the movie stuff. That was all they had to do.
The change in scale seems to be positioning them as compatible with Marvel Legends and Star Wars Black.

Yup, it'd be different if that's how they started out though instead of us being 4 years in. And tbh all I see now is unsold Legends and Star Wars.
Maybe I'm wrong, but putting half an inch of height on an Origins figure (and many of those already are basically 6 inch now) seems rather redundant. I imagine it's more about cost saving and trying to be relevant again.
They've no idea what they're doing with this brand, we're back in 1986 hoping a movie will fix everything Mattel wrecked themselves.

exactly bro...or, maybe they will just replace the MV name with Chronicles and we will get Chronicles New Eternia or Chronicles New Etheria...who knows...new movie figures can run for few waves and that's it...what they gonna do then ? start some new sh.t ?
….maybe they’ll bring back Classics. 🤣
This whole scenario reminds of when Origins and Masterverse were coming to be and whenever asked about Classics, Mattel just responded with corporate nothing chatter.
I think Mattel sees that New Eternia ran it's course. There are Snake Men and some others minor characters left to make but there is not much future left in it. On the otherhand the Vintage Collection just started.
This is something that hurts to admit… yes they could be doing Snake Men, and yes they could be doing more PoP, new characters… but for a retail line, they need the Fistos, Mer Men, Buzz-Offs, aside if the main characters. Plus further characters need even more new tooling. (Comet Warriors anyone?)
However I do hurt hearing all this, being quite invested in MV, AND having a lot of Classics. Where will I put these Chronicles?
There must be method to this madness. Announcing an “all-new toy line” gives headlines for the movie and vice verse. They understand consistency in their Barbie and Hot Wheels. MOTU is still in the establishing phase. I hope it doesn’t all go bust though.
It’s clear to me they will phase in classic designs and sublines into Chronicles, just how they did it with MV. But how many will jump on board?
I hope Mattel will keep MV alive a little bit, with Creations releases, Vintage Collection,… With minimal effort, they could dampen our frustrations, and create more good will towards Chronicles… and their company.
It aint over if you dont want it to be over. Vintage collection is gettin better. Mer-Man looks good. New Eternia is fire but if Mattel sticks with vintage collection we got 7inchers of our old toys.
Truthfully the line was hobbled from day one by all the unsold Revelation figures (still available online!), but then they did shit like throwing in mostly unnecessary accessories and calling it a Deluxe, not saying what was a store exclusive, wildly over and underproducing particular figures, 10 different sublines... but what really pisses people off is they stayed true to the line for four years and saw the general quality improve wave to wave (except the headsculpts) then watched Mattel just pull the plug for an all or nothing bet on a movie that kids can't afford the toys for. So yet again adult collectors are just expected to pick up the slack after a tidal wave of incompetence since the Netflix shows.
