  1. I was trying soooo hard to not watch any other trailers since I want to be surprised when I’m there to watch. I failed. I think they are giving us very very measured snippets of Skeletor and Cringer/BattleCat. I think it’s the right move. I think the tone is where it needs to be. It’s finally here, the talk of it being in development hell for decades is over. Can’t wait.

    1. My biggest relief will definitely be Skeletor’s voice! I was apprehensive about this inappropriate and humorous Filmation voice returning. Unless, of course, the film itself had been promoted as a real joke. But that doesn’t seem to be the case.

I kinda found it flat, especially for a dude who’s blue with glowing red eyes. For me he needed to lean into Langella-measured theatricality a bit more. I know he’s supposed to be in charge at that point but he needs to be notable (Skeletor is as crucial as He-Man, if not more so) and not just another above it all Marvel villain.

    1. I’m still impressed! There is a lot happening in this trailer, however, I get a feeling that the Kevin Smith / Revelation premise runs strong with this movie.
Similar to the cartoon, Skeletor has won… Eternia is in ruin… and the former Heroic Warriors must band together to rebel against Skeletor’s tyranny. (It even goes so far as to have Man-At-Arms in a poncho – just like Revelation!)
A few things I find interesting:
      *Snake Mountain looks awesome!!

*I LOVE the fact that Duncan has his vintage style club!

*New version of the Sky Sled?

*Cringer / Battle Cat remains my favorite part so far!!

*I want whatever supplements these Eternians are taking… because they got mad hops! LOL!

One thing I don’t like: NO ORKO?!?

Apparently people online have already been criticizing Leto’s voice, but I don’t have a problem with it. He sounds a bit Shakespearean.

Agreed. I feel like it’s a nice combination of Campbell Lane’s voice (New Adventures) and Frank Langella. Shakespearean with a hint of sarcasm.

It’s not the Sky Sled, but looks like the seat and engine from the Roton. Also you can see Man At Arms using boosters on his armor to jump, no supplements needed!

  2. Loved it. Very unique opening scene for a trailer. I like that Adam still has all is memories of Eternia so we don’t have to spend the first 3/4 of the movie watching him try to regain them. He can just jump right in and keep the pace brisk. It’s great getting to see more of the other Masters, and the costumes look just realistic enough without losing their unique design from the cartoon. Skeletor’s voice was a little underwhelming but not awful. That seems like a fine line to walk to make sure it’s not too over the top while also not too menacing. I’ll pass final judgment when the movie comes out and we hear more lines. They may even take fan reactions into account and do some last minute voice altering. Totally not a deal breaker for me though. Only 66 days and less than 30 for the video game, so I’ll have that to keep me from chewing my nails in anticipation.

    1. @durendal of course I do, it is called "not the one we heard in the new trailer" voice…for example, not that deep and without British accent

I watched the trailer again, trying to place the vocal pattern. It almost sounds like Winnie the Pooh got old.

    2. @yen1893 Would you prefer a deep south accent? 🤣
What voice would “fit" the character? A cheesy Oppenheimer impression?

Well something approaching the 200x voice would work to my mind? Slightly theatrical but still retaining menace. I saw a suggestion elsewhere, and I think it’s genius, Kurtwood Smith AKA Clarence Bodicker. Imagine if they’d announced him as the voice, people would have been much happier than immediately cringing at Jared Leto. And realistically it could be anybody under that suit and CGI. You wouldn’t even know that was Leto without being told.

It’s the best voice I’ve ever heard for Skeletor. An honourable mention goes to the one used in the NA cartoon, though (so sneaky!).

    1. @gatorrob I’m glad you and your family enjoyed it! 😄

We did! I’m so thankful that we do almost everything as a family. We had a watch party for Masters of the Universe Revolution where we all got dressed up and we will probably do the same for the movie. Sometimes we are teased about how close we are but I wouldn’t have it any other way. Smile Orko

  3. I’m kinda wondering if Randor is getting killed off. We only see him in the flashbacks whereas Marlena is there for adult Adam. The last we see is him getting overwhelmed by Skeletor’s troops. He’s not there in the prison scene. I suppose Skeletor could be holding him in a special private cell elsewhere, but it seems just as likely Skeletor would kill Randor at the first opportunity.

And I’m still upset there’s no sign of Orko.

  4. It’s not looking to be the kind of MOTU film I would have made… and that’s basically fine, in my opinion. I would’ve gone for something with a more mature “sword and sorcery" tone and it’s not at all shocking to me, or remotely a deal-breaker, that the film went in a different direction.
I’m looking forward to the film for the most part, and I think most of the trailer looks great! Snake Mountain especially stood out to me as looking totally phenomenal! I can’t wait to see more of the action, and especially more of He-Man!
I am a little concerned about the level and type of humor, as is always the case with these sorts of sf action comedies, but hopefully it will have some restraint. And, if anyone’s keeping score, put me down as Not Really A Fan of the allegedly “Shakespearean" Skeletor voice. But that’s just one element of a much bigger film.
As a side note, I had no idea that the Oppenheimer style of voice for Skeletor had so many detractors, haha! To me, that was always just… “What Skeletor sounds like!" I don’t really need him to have a mock-British accent and a totally different quality of voice. Maybe it’s Brian Dobson proving to me as a young kid that he can sound more or less like Alan Oppenheimer, and still be genuinely menacing, but I always liked it.
