Back in December 2025, we surmised that the first “Masters of the Universe” trailer would be timed along with “Mercy”, another big theatrical film staring Chris Pratt that was coming to theaters from Amazon MGM Studios.

Then on January 22nd (a day before the official theatrical release of “Mercy”) it happened; The first teaser trailer for “Masters of the Universe” was released!

Well now, this Friday, March 20th, Amazon MGM’s next big budget movie “Project Hail Mary” is coming to theaters!

And this month, the British Board of Film Classification has classified a new trailer for the “Masters of the Universe” Movie. And unlike the previous trailer rated 12A…

This new trailer is rated PG and 15 seconds shorter.

Here is the British Board’s rating system for fans who are not aware:

So considering the timing, will a new “Masters of the Universe” trailer be attached Amazon MGM’s next big budget movie “Project Hail Mary” coming this week?

And if so, will it just be the same trailer with some minor cuts removing content unsuitable for small children? Or will it contain new footage?

Since the new trailer is slightly 14 seconds shorter in running time and has less objectionable content based on its rating, we don’t want to rule out a cut down version for younger British audiences (perhaps without the Skeletor fight after the title card.) They are a little more restrictive there when it comes to violence (like the U.S. is when it comes to sex and nudity.)
We just don’t know for certain, but we will find out this week together.
A big thanks goes out to the always awesome @dgsimo on this!
We’ll see you next time.

Seems likely we’re getting a new trailer! Dune 3 and the Spider-Man trailer are rumored to be released next week too but the timing of the ratings and Project Hail Mary seem to coincidental.
Fingers crossed!
@dgsimo Since the new trailer is slightly 14 seconds shorter in running time and has less objectionable content, I didn’t want to rule out a cut down version for British audiences perhaps without the Skeletor fight after the title card. They are a little more restrictive with violence over there for the kiddies! 😊
Its possible. The timing is all a little suspect though. It’ll be interesting to see what happens this week!
@admin “objectionable content"?
By Britian’s standards. The last trailer was rated 12A (i.e. under 12 cannot watch that trailer without being accompanied by an adult).
The “new" trailer is rated PG (which is equivalent to a green band trailer in the United States.)
What they found objectionable is (I assume) Skeletor perhaps being too scary for children, but I don’t know for certain.
@admin LOL! That’s…hilariously out of touch on their part. They need to update their standards – kids aren’t afraid of shit these days.
@durendal It is not as heavy handed as it was. Do a search on the video nasty era.
I never liked this approach anyway. I mean, releasing several movie trailers before the movie is actually launched in theaters. It ruins the surprise factor considerably. But, in any case, this is the consumerist society we’re living in.
It’s hard to be surprised by things today but it doesn’t stop me from enjoying something unless there is a twist ending. If I like it I’m going to watch this movie a hundred times anyway.
