“MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE” Movie Tie-In Book and Comic stories seem to flesh out the 15 years on Eternia when Prince Adam is on Earth *Spoilers*

Potential Spoilers ahead.

Fans who have watched the “Masters of the Universe” Movie trailer can tell that in the upcoming film… when Prince Adam is young, Eternia feels peaceful (at first.)

That is until there is a great war and Skeletor’s army seems to decimate Eternia…

…which forces Prince Adam and his mother Queen Marlena to flee for safety towards the Sorceress (who assumingly helps Adam get to Earth.)

According to the official synopsis, Adam is on Earth for 15 years before he returns to Eternia.

And during those fifteen years, it appears some new fiction will fill in those gaps in regards to what happened on Eternia.

Motu teela daughter of eternia

Starting with the book “Teela: Daughter of Eternos“, this story takes place (per the book’s synopsis) “four years after Skeletor decimated the kingdom of Eternos.” It seems Teela is among the “scattered refugees of Eternia” surviving by “never staying in one place for long.” Apparently Teela “begins a plan for a future beyond Eternia, but Teela knows her father Duncan, the once-mighty Man-At-Arms, won’t survive leaving the land he swore to protect.

Granamyr the dragon’s existence is confirmed, and apparently Evil-Lyn seems ready to double cross Skeletor as well.

Now in addition to the novel, the “Masters of the Universe: The Wings of Fate” movie tie-in comic series also seems to take place during that time (which suggests the story will not be centered around He-Man.)

According to the comic’s synopsis, the tie-in comics will also take place “in the aftermath of Skeletor’s siege on Eternos” where it focuses on an unnamed “down-and-out refugee” that “gives sanctuary to a mysterious, injured falcon“. Injured Falcon? Yes, sounds like the Sorceress is injured in her Zoar falcon form…

…that eventually leads them to “Avion“, the home of Stratos.

Both publications refer to their protagonists as “refugees“… so it seems (much like the events in the 1987 “Masters of the Universe” movie), the heroic warriors will be scattered on Eternia, hiding from persecution, hoping to escape the clutches of Skeletor.

So thankfully, it appears this supplemental tie-in fiction will be substantial stories that flesh out a timelines during the movie events, and we can’t wait to read them.

Below is the full official synopsis for both publications:

TEELA: DAUGHTER OF ETERNOS

A FALLEN KINGDOM
Four years after Skeletor decimated the kingdom of Eternos, Teela and the scattered refugees of Eternia survive by never staying in one place for long. When a brutal storm of acidic rain deep within the Evergreen Forest leaves their camp ravaged and hope at its thinnest, some, like Teela’s friend Locke, begin to plan for a future beyond Eternia. But Teela knows her father Duncan, the once-mighty Man-At-Arms, won’t survive leaving the land he swore to protect.

A FORBIDDEN ALLIANCE
Desperate to save her people, Teela ventures to Darksmoke to bargain with the ancient dragon Granamyr. He bestows upon her a vial filled with a mysterious, powerful elixir—and no instructions on its use. Enter Evil-Lyn, Skeletor’s ruthless second-in-command, who intercepts Teela with a dangerous proposal: an alliance. In exchange for the vial’s secrets, Teela and the Heroic Warriors must someday help the sorceress overthrow Skeletor himself.

A MAGIC THAT COULD SAVE—OR DESTROY—THEM ALL
The vial heals the sick and brings food back to empty tables—until the forest around the camp begins to change. Rivers vanish. Trees peel to bone. Creatures flee. As the land around them withers at an ever-increasing pace, Teela must confront an impossible question: Has the very magic she used to save her people doomed Eternia instead?

MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE: THE WINGS OF FATE – Issue #1

In the aftermath of Skeletor’s siege on Eternos, a down-and-out refugee gives sanctuary to a mysterious, injured falcon. Now, to save her life, he must embark upon a perilous journey through the Mystic Mountains and seek aid from the storied inhabitants of the realm of Avion.

“Teela: Daughter of Eternos” will hit bookshelves on June 2nd and “Masters of the Universe: The Wings of Fate ” Issue #1 will be released on June 10th, 2026

We’ll see you next time!

  1. Desperate journeys to Avion and Darksmoke for assistance! That implies that those kingdoms remain out of reach for Skeletor even after he conquers Eternos, which is great because it adds a grand scale to the planet of Eternia. I wonder if any of that will be shown in the film?

I might be misremembering but I think the running time is relatively short going by the test screenings?

    1. I don’t want to have to read to get the whole story.

Yeah, kinda reminds me of 2016 when the tie-in comics for “Batman v Superman" included multiple sequences that would probably have benefited the film itself, depending on who you ask.
I am a big reader, and it feels to me like MOTU can probably support a line of tie-in novels like Doctor Who or Star Wars, or maybe HALO, so in theory I’m all for this concept, but to make elements of the film rely on the novel and comic could be a little messy.

On the other hand, I could easily be worried over nothing, with the tie-in reading material being totally supplemental. I mean, that would likely be the intent regardless of outcome.
